For real? What was so frustrating about the Sega Mega Drive games? (Unless you mean the lack of save states or something like that)

Jag85

I never got around to playing a Sonic game until earlier this year, when I noticed Steam had them for sale.

The camera is downright infuriating. The game is based around high speed platforming, but 3/4 times I find myself going high speed smack into spikes or an enemy that was hidden off screen due to there being so little room to see due to the camera. Because this happened so god damn often, I have to progress through levels at a crawl, and even the platforming imo is shaky. Sonic feels so floaty and slippery I never feel like I'm in true control. Don't even get me started on the bonus stages for Chaos Emeralds. Jesus.

I'm about 20 years late to the party for Sonic complaints, but yep. That's my gripes with em.

That's what made Sonic unique: the physics. He was like a racing car, in that you couldn't just hit the brakes and expect him to come to a stop immediately. That's just one of the things that made the Sonic games a fun experience. Either way, Sonic has never been known for being a difficult game, so I find your complaints very odd... Unless you were raised on modern games that are almost devoid of challenge, then I can probably understand. Oh well, to each his own, I guess.

Not the case at all. I just grew up with platformers with tight controls and good camera. Sonic has neither. And yes Jiggly, I'm aware that I am most likey very bad at this game, I have no issues with that.

I can't really think of a game that frustrated me constantly, especially since I managed to beat the ones that did

Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 on Euro-Extreme were a b****, I will never play MGS3 on the Extreme difficulties simply because of the EVA escort segment, I hate escorting. It's a dead and broken game mechanic that will never work.

MGS2 on Euro-Extreme was insane, I remember just before beating Solidus I was literally bleeding at the start of thefight because of the torture segment draining my health down to almost zero, so I had to practice doing the fight flawlessly without getting touched, and well..I came through

F-Zero GX is also another one to remember, but I don't remember getting frustrated in my past but instead I kept on trying and trying and trying. If I couldn't do it I would just not play it for a few days then go back to it, after a few weeks I managed to beat F-Zero GX on Master class and Very hard

Sonic games are boring anyway - I'm probably in the minority but I don't care, I don't enjoy playing Sonic games. They are not hard, I just can't really get into them.

I also don't understand how sidescrolling super fast works, that's why I prefer the 3D games if anything, but they're not my cup of tea for platformers.

Platformers that I prefer would be Mario, Wario Land, Kid Icarus, Klonoa, Rayman

Are you talking about the 2D games or the 3D games? Because the camera was never an issue with the 2D games...

Can't name it but the little skiing game where as a kid that accursed yeti would eat my character at the very end as you're going down the mountain hahaha. That and FFXI while trying to organize a party to help get my Artifact gear/Soboro and after doing so never getting the highest lot on any of the drops. Those were bad days.

The final boss battle on the PC version of MGS2.
I was playing with a keyboard and mouse, and I found the sword very difficult to use with these controls. Since the final fight against Solidus requires you to use only the sword, I just couldn't beat it. It sucked being almost done with the game but not getting to see the ending. Eventually I just got the PS2 version and beat it on there.
Not legacy but The land of the livid dead from Rayman Origins nearly made me bust my controller in frustration! I yelled ALOT at my TV and probably scared my dogs in the process, so it def left an impression and I don't ever want to return to it!

Golgo 13 (NES)- The damn mazes God of War (PS2) on Hardest difficulty- I got so pissed I threw my controller at the wall, shattering it. Mega Man X (SNES) - Fighting all the bosses for the second time -.- Halo 2 (XBOX) solo on Legendary Kid Chameleon (Genesis)- Later levels OMG! Metal Gear Solid (PS1) - Boss fight with Liquid on top of the Metal Gear Xmen 1&2 (Genesis) - Harder than week old bread Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (PS1) - Nemesis

The PC version of MGS2 is terrible. As if the keyboard controls weren't bad enough, I tried playing it with the Dual Shock 3 and configuring it was a nightmare, especially because the game relies on pressure-sensitive buttons which can't be configured properly with the game. For anyone who wants to play MGS2 on the PC, you'd be better off playing the PS2 version on the PCSX2 emulator, where it looks and plays better than the official PC version.

Onimusha... times water puzzle: thanks Onimusha for lying to me. I made a replica of this puzzle out of paper on my floor so that I had unlimited time to do it. After three hours of finally figuring it out and memorizing it, i tried it in the game... and nothing happened, so I looked it up on youtube and just went to the end (I still wanted to beat the puzzle on my own, I just wanted to know what the hell it was supossed to look like finished). Apparrently the game lies and instead of making the crest in the MIDDLE like it tells you to do, it really means the lower middle. So I spent 3 hours of my life trying to complete the puzzle in the way that the game tells you to, the WRONG way. Then I spent 30 more minutes to actually find the correct way... AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!

2. Banjo Tooie, that green dinosaur thing, my God the controls are so bad to fly in this game it's sickening, ON TOP OF THAT your trying to shoot grenade eggs at these little patches you can barely see, just beat it for me please :( I can't do it at all! STILL!

rwallacefan

I'm assuming you're talking about Mr. Patches or whatever his name is.... the boss in the Gruntyworld Theme Park level? I personally found flying easy and had no problem killing him. You could try killing him from the ground though. Just run around and aim your shots. I beat him in my first playthrough without flying. Just make sure to avoid the enemies that spawn on the ground every now and then.

Yep that's who I was referring to, it was just mad annoying for me, I did not like the flying controls and shooting at the sametime, you must have nerves of steel :P

o.o

Or maybe your skill level is quite small...it was really easy,i remember doing it the first time around.
