Favourite storyline in games?

I'm one of those gamers where the storyline is everything. My personal favourite storyline based game is the Metal Gear Solid series but I'm sick of my own opinion haha. Let me know what your favourite storyline is :)

As far as a video game series goes, I'm going with the Mass Effect trilogy overall. If I look at an individual game, then it's The Last of Us.

The Mass Effect trilogy is probably my all-time favourite. I also love the Metal Gear Solid games, Dragon Age games, Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, and Bioshock games.

Mafia.

Metal Gear Solid, by far, and I just got into the series a few weeks ago and I've been playing all available games since.

Telltale games. ME, Witcher, Dragon Age, AC, Deus Ex, RE, PoP, Splinter Cell, DMC, Batman Arkham, Mafia, Max Payne (Except MP3), Bioshock and Wolfenstein. All these games series have great storylines on them imo.

Planescape: Torment,still the best written story in gaming to this day,with the best characters.

For me its The Walking Dead Game Seasons 1 & 2, The Last of Us and then Bioshock Infinite. Maybe Outlast as well but that's a special case.

If you've recently started playing MGS listen to the storyline very carefully. Every single sentance is an important factor to the storyline and if miss anything major you'll be wondering what the characters are going on about later. Just a little tip :)

@kojimano1fan: Indeed, the games are full of character and plot details in every dialogue. I finished the entire HD Collection (2, 3, and Peace Walker) and as of this moment I'm looking for a copy of The Twin Snakes. After playing that, I'm going to play MGS4 and finally Ground Zeroes. The overall story in this series is so intense and beautiful, I was blown away by the ending in MGS3 and the complexity of the philosophical nature of MGS2.

I'd put my thoughts on the MGS series in by now but I fear I'll be crucified lol.

Honestly never got the hype on Last of Us, it's great but best game/story ever? Sorry nowhere near for me.

Best individual story for me is KOTOR. Series wise either Mass Effect due its awesome characters and insane amount of lore or Metal Gear Solid because its just nuts and Revolver fucking Ocelot.

MGS3 enough said.

Majora's Mask for me. The story blended with the gameplay perfectly.

And an amazing setting with great music too.

The Witcher series has one of the best story lines available, of course they didn't create the world and characters etc, but they do a great job making those games.

the Ace Attorney series

Dark Souls 2 Have no clue what the story is but its great. Mario Galaxy 2 story is good also.

Xenoblade Chronicles

9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, followed by Nier and Bioshock. Also assassins creed 2 had a very good story, it's just a shame ubisoft ruined the plot with cliffhanger after cliffhanger to keep making games.

Metal Gear Solid does have an amazing storyline I must agree. MGS2 is my favorite installment because of how the story is told through Raiden's eyes. He's kept out of the loop when talking with Rose, Colonel Campbell, and Snake. It gave me motivation to keep playing because I wanted to piece everything together and figure out just what's going on. Raiden became one of my favorite video game characters.

The story of Final Fantasy VII is also really good. Crisis Core was amazing and the ending made me tear up.

Tales of the Abyss has a really great story with some excellent character development. It's a pretty dark game. (At least for a Tales game.)
