Wow, I kind of agree with most of those choices. Also, props for not including Half-Life 2 by default like all the fanboys of the game are prone to doing.

@mastermetal777: I'm glad you liked it =) I didn't play Half-Life 2 when it was first released and I recently play it for a few hours and didn't enjoyed very much. I found the story boring/uninteresting and the gameplay a bit too repetitive for my taste. Thanks for your contribution!

@glitter: Wow! You really love Megaman and Sonic games don't you? Thanks for your contribution =)

@Renegade_Fury: Great list! I didn't play most of those games. XD I only played the Sigma edition of Ninja Gaiden on PS3, that's why it's not in my list, but it's one of my favorite games of all time! Thanks for your contribution =)

@hrt_rulz01: As I said before, I didn't play Half-Life 2 when it was first released and I recently play it for a few hours and didn't enjoyed very much. Halo games are also overrated in my humble opinion from what I've seen of other people playing them. Thanks for your contribution =)

@behardy24: Thanks for your contribution =)

Just started playing Valkyrie Chronicles, and that game seems to also have a "home" system implant in it and it's also a great game.

  • 2001 - Ace Combat 4
  • 2001 - Sonic Adventure 2 / Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
  • 2005 - Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition
  • 2005 - Pursuit Force

Simpsons Hit and Run is good. Megaman Network Transmission is surprisingly good. F-Zero GX is overrated but nevertheless very good. Mega Man X6 got better with age. It's the most intense game in the series.

#15 Posted by mastermetal777 (1949 posts) -

@final_lap: As much as I love the Mega Man X series, X6 was one of the weaker ones IMO. The biggest faults were the insanely complex level design and the convoluted storyline.

One of the major problems in X6 is that some areas required you to die until you lose all your lives, which is incredibly shitty design. Other than that it was no more or less complex than the levels in all the other Mega Man X games.

I see nothing wrong with the storyline. Also I just noticed you didn't even say the story was bad, just that it was convoluted, but I would argue that rarely a game is ruined by having a convoluted storyline. (if such a thing is even possible) If you're gonna start criticizing a game's storyline you might as well criticize it for its graphics as well, which is a much bigger issue in X6 than the story is.

#18 Posted by mastermetal777 (1949 posts) -

@final_lap: I found navigating most of the levels confusing and/or infuriating, with special mention towards the awful design of Blaze Heatnix's level. I can't really say anything bad about the graphics though. It's the same damn thing as X4 and X5 in terms of art style and sprite usage. And all of the other X games had relatively straightforward stories by comparison, so I can call it a negative over consistency.

#19 Edited by Pikminmaniac (9110 posts) -

I guess it would look something like this

-Metroid Prime

-Metroid Prime 2 Echoes

-The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker

This time period is when most of my favorite games were made. Everyone's made some great lists, but I didn't see anyone put F-Zero GX. That in my opinion is the best racing game ever made.

@bruno_fmenedes:

Yes, somebody who loves PES4 as much as I did. A friend and I once played a couple of hours in the practice mode at taking free kicks with Roberto Carlos to see who would score first. Good times.

In general a lot of great titles being mentioned here. I will add Conflict Desert Storm as one of the games I loved, great couch co-op game, that and Halo at a friends was what pushed me into buying the original Xbox.

i love these types of threads, lol.

i didn't realize that my gamecube resident evil and eternal darkness fall in this time category. i'll have to replay re4 sometime soon and i can't put it on this list since i considered it overrated at the time. resident evil 4 SHOULD BE the "test of time" article, lol.

nothing more rewarding than playing both of those games without cheating and figuring em out on your own.

#38 Posted by Senor_Kami (8437 posts) -
  • Civilization 4
  • Phantom Dust
  • Knights of the Old Republic II

Those are in my top 3. Probably the right order as well. The rest are in no order:

  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Knights of the Old Republic
  • Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
  • School Days
  • Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

  • NFL 2K5
  • Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)
