Hi guys,

Quick question, I want to try a Fallout game (never really played them properly, so want to give them a proper try). Which do you think I should go for? F4 is on special at the moment here, but I can get F3 cheaper (obviously) and play it on my Xbox One with BC.

So which do you think I should get, as a newcomer to the series?

Thanks in advance.

Some people will suggest playing the entire series but I would suggest going for FO3 (ideally with all dlc) then go to FO:NV (ideally with dlc) at the end go with FO4.

So you think go with 3? Because I'm only thinking of playing one of them for now (haven't got time to play all of them).

Is 3 "better" than 4?

If you can only play one game then 3 is the one.

Is 3 "better" than 4?

In terms of story and general gameplay, yes.

Ok cool. Thanks for the input.

Anyone disagree?

It depends what you're looking for:

Fallout 1: Excellent RPG, but dated.

Fallout 2: Absolutely brilliant, but dated.

Fallout 3: Great for newcomers. Clunky shooter with mild RPG elements.

Fallout New Vegas: Better shooter with better RPG elements. Fun Western theme.

Fallout 4: Better shooter with much weaker RPG elements.

I guess I'd say go with Fallout 3 first but I got the physical version of Fallout 4 for the Xbox One and it came with a free digital download of Fallout 3 so you might want to look into that option first. It'll say in the bottom left corner of the game case for the free Fallout 3 download.

Go with Fallout 4

Fallout 3 really did not age well. Not saying F4 is a better game but a newcomer might like F4 more

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up doing what Archangel said and bought F4 with a free code for F3.

Yeah hope so... I'm gonna try 3 first and see if I like that. Then decide if I keep 4 or return it :)

Good choice

3 and 4 is def. the best Fallout games , 4 is a bit short and small but still a lot of fun.

I bought fallout 4 and before that I have never played these sort of games and I must agree that Fallout 4 is better than F3 because it offers better shooting mechanics than 3 and you can play Fallout 4 like a regular shooter and at the beginning I was kind of overwhelmed with the amount of stuff that you can do in the game but once you get the hang of the controls it becomes so much easier.

I know you have played the witcher 3 and this game is very similar to that but the only difference is in F4 is that you can play the game like a shooter which is why I decided to pick it up and it's not that heavy when it comes to the RPG elements of the game which is why I like it a lot. I'm sure you will enjoy the game but the only gripe I have with the game is that the graphics are a little outdated but other than that I'm having a blast.
