Wasn't it this when they said only a couple of month be for that don't expect fallout 4 anytime soon? Then they announce it and then say its coming in October?. Seems quick to me from announcement to release day.

Ok.......... maybe they wanted to surprise everyone? Is this just a venting session, or do you have a legitimate question?

Wouldnt it be cool if a games company anounced a game a week b4 release, especially if it was a really cool game.

The underlying suspicion being that they might rush this one out of the door, resulting in a buggy mess on launch day...?

Then don't buy it on launch day and wait till it's patched. And only preorder if you don't care about the state you'll get your game in.

They intentionally kept quiet on it for a very long time. They somewhat hinted probably years ago that they were working on their next big project or something, but they really did well on keeping Fallout 4 a secret even though it was almost a certainty that they were developing it. Also, Bethesda tends to announce big games not too long before they are released. Skyrim was announced less than a year before it launched. They didn't show much of Fallout 3 until about the same timeframe.

Anyway, it's just something they do. They've been working on the game for at least 4 years and were coming up with ideas for it pretty much right after Fallout 3 launched. So the game IS basically finished. Though I still imagine it's going to have its issues at launch... this is Bethesda, after all.
