Well today, games are as complex as films, whether its storylines or CGI's: modern day games are very structured. Games used to be played for just pure gameplay, remember space invaders? No-body really cared at what it looked like or what it was about, they played it for the fact of its gameplay. But now it's entirely changed. Especially in RPG's. People search for more than its Gameplay.
Graphics are more focused on than previous years, soundtracks are, and even what I want to talk about are just about one of the main focuses: Storyline. Storylines date back to lets say the 16-bit era; Final Fantasies, Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, they aren't spectacular but thats when the topic kicked in. Nowadayseverything is so advanced! You have the Graphics engines, orchestras playing music just for a scene, Famous book/movie writers planning scripts, its all unbelievable on how far they take it.
Anyways, more on the topic. Ever got upset on a game? Some of you may think I'm bonkers, some may understand where I'm going here. Whether it's a hard stressful boss that makes you go insane and burst into tears, or such a touching story, there has to be a time where you got to the point of being upset. Think I'm an idiot read on.
I have had a fair few moments on games in my younger years where its made me emotional, bosses that really p*** me off, and stories that end up sad, they really got me upset.
Final Fantasy VII is one of the most obvious games that made me upset. For one when I completed after a staggering 100 hours of playing (yes 100 hours, not a typo), I was amazed at completing it. Two, that the story was so epic and the music on the credits was so, how can I explain, brilliantly in a sad way? Anyway, Final Fantasy VII is just aphenominal game even for it being over 10 years old, its not aging.
So the question is, have you ever got upset over a game?
