Not really a fighter fan but over the years i have played a few iterations of Tekken and DOA and for me personally i prefer DOA.

DOA used to be a joke, but now it's basically Virtua Fighter, with slightly different controls. I consider both to be good, now.

That's an overstatement, as VF is an incredibly deep fighter and DOA still has a very "rock/paper/scissors" approach between strikes, throws, and counters for every character. DOA is fun, no doubt, and it's a lot more approachable than SFIV, Tekken or VF, but I wouldn't hold it in nearly the same level of esteem as those other fighting games.

I prefer Tekken more, so. But miss VF, too.

#5 Posted by 187umKILLAH (1414 posts) -

Tekken, could never get into DOA for some reason.

#6 Edited by zeroyaoi (1934 posts) -

I prefer VF, but I would choose tekken over doa.

#7 Edited by DuaIFace (535 posts) -

I'm just wondering why Virtua Fighter isn't on this list?

Boob Simulator for the Win.

As Byshop already mentioned its very "Rock Paper Scissory" in its design but I find that much more enjoyable than Tekken's Ankle Juggling Attacks. Atleast in DOA you have a chance to Break Free. And you don't wrestle with the Controls.

@PiscesAnimeGirl, please add some content to discuss when making threads in Games Discussion in the future. We prefer to actually converse here, thank you.

#10 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (15126 posts) -

@PiscesAnimeGirl

BranKetra is right.... You can start by adding GIFs of all the female fighters... Thats topic worthy right ? :)

#11 Edited by BranKetra (49215 posts) -

GIFs or not, text is what I meant by content. Typically, threads like this are locked, but since other users provided some input, it should stay open. If anyone disagrees, feel free to let the community managers know.

You know I haven't made a thread in at least 3months.... Very proud of myself. :)

#13 Posted by Jacanuk (5153 posts) -

Tekken by a landslide

Never got really into DoA and Tekken always seem far superior in terms of gameplay, fighting and characters.

Yet you still manage to get 400-500posts in less than 2 weeks.

Alright. I do not think you making threads at all was an issue. It is good you gave that some thought, though.

DOA series for me

#17 Posted by Septimus99 (15 posts) -

I has to be tekken but they had to goin ruin it by adding that juggling rubbish to it.

#18 Posted by mattykovax (22693 posts) -

Tekken is much better technicaly but I prefer DOA. I like DOA but Its the wrestling of fighting games. Its fun, loud, and entertaining as hell, but not really legit.

#19 Posted by amalager (120 posts) -

I prefer Tekken though I play DOA and Virtua fighters at times. Reason: I "feel" the hits on tekken. I only play DOA for beewbs.

#20 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (15126 posts) -

@Jacanuk

Its the lil things that matter. :)

@mattykovax

It is Legit.... If you can play it long enough that you don't notice the jiggling anymore then you'l see that depth hidden underneath.

#21 Posted by SandFox80 (8 posts) -

As much as I love a well timed reversal on DOA, I've got to got Tekken.

@BranKetra: Why should I add anything when 95% of GS consists of trolls?

There are less trolls on this site than that. If you do not wish to do what Games Discussion, Primary Games Discussion, and General Games Discussion regulars before that have done to maintain the quality of this forum, please refrain from making threads. It is not forbidden, but a request.

#24 Posted by PiscesAnimeGirl (234 posts) -

@BranKetra: If I want your opinion, I will ask for it. This is a POLL. No text is required. All I'm asking is whether or not someone prefers DOA, Tekken, Both, or Neither. It doesn't require a thousand paragraphs. You wanna conversate, that's what the messaging feature is for. Or just ask the creator of the topic what their opinion is on the matter and they'll respond. In forums, you give out opinions on things. Conversating in forums usually leads to trolling. Which I'm trying to avoid due to past experiences.

#25 Posted by PiscesAnimeGirl (234 posts) -

@DuaIFace: Never played it. I may in the future

#26 Edited by sukraj (23426 posts) -

Neither

#27 Edited by PiscesAnimeGirl (234 posts) -

@septimus99: Yeah same. That's why I play DOA more than Tekken. Tekken 5 was the last good Tekken game imo.

Ehh...Its got some depth mostly in the counter reversal system, But I don't think its coincidence that even the makers now call it fighting entertainment. And as I said I think its a blast, I don't hate on DOA, but its just not at the level of lots of other fighters in my opinion. Case in point, I like Mortal Kombat best out of all the fighters but other than maybe 3 and the remake I don't consider that series legit either.

#29 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (15126 posts) -

@mattykovax

Why are say these hurtfull things :( ?

But seriously though..... What is it about DOA that turns away hardcore players ?

I remember the 1st time I played it...... I was not ready, not for that. :p. I lost my 1st 20 fights.... My 1st win coindentally only came when I decided to use a guy instead. ;)...

Look, no one is asking for too much. Poll threads are generally not allowed, but I am giving yours a free pass because you seem to be a new user. It is really as simple as that. Whatever your past forum experiences are should not cause you to make a forum worse by making poll threads with no content in the opening post.

I will say it again: Threads exactly like this are usually closed, but users gave it a chance. Please keep that in mind in the future when making threads or they will be closed. Thank you for understanding.

#36 Edited by PiscesAnimeGirl (234 posts) -

@BranKetra: I'm not a new user. In case you haven't noticed, I've been here for 4 years. If poll threads aren't allowed, then why does the feature exist? Don't pick on someone just because their threads aren't to your liking. You're a mod not a critic. Your job is to help the creators of GS enforce the rules of the site. Know your place. I'm not breaking the forum rules so there's no need for you to bother me. Don't let your personal feelings or preferences cloud your judgment. As I said before, if you're gonna bother someone just because their threads aren't the way you want them to be, then maybe you should consider not saying anything. I'm not breaking the rules (which you obviously need to read) so leave me alone and go bother someone else.

#37 Edited by BranKetra (49215 posts) -

@PiscesAnimeGirl: Calm down with the attitude. I am not picking on you at all. I said you seem to be new because you have less than three hundred posts and before recently, I have not seen you create a thread here. Plus, I have been a regular of this forum for years. I think it is safe to say I know how things work here, who the regulars are, and the common courtesies that users expect of one another. Unless you have been lurking this whole time, addressing you as such would be right because you do not seem to know how this forum works. It is not about my personal preferences. In Games Discussion, poll threads, i.e. threads with just a poll and no opening post, are either discouraged or forbidden in this form. That is not in the rules currently, but it has been in the past which is why moderators continue to enforce it. I am really not sure why it is missing considering we are in a forum which is a discuss things. After all, it is called Games Discussion.

If you disagree with the way things work here (not my personal feelings or preferences like you said), you are welcome to PM the community managers and talk about it in the Bug Reporting and Feedback Forum. Have a nice day.

Funny that you would say that considering that Dead or Alive has some of the most assertive females in gaming. Kasumi, Tina, and Lei Fang as well as the others are all strong-willed.

#43 Edited by Lulu_Lulu (15126 posts) -

@BranKetra

Thats very true.... It took me a while to see the person inside....

I like Mila in the sense that her will is still in the process of stengthening. Shes trying to find her place. Too bad her move list sucks ass ! So its Tina for me ! :p I don't like Ayane... Shes so up tight and lacks the grace and elegance of Kokoro... But damn shes fast, she can twist and turn back and forth all over the battlefield.
