I rarely pre-order games, only if it's a game that's going to be impossible to find(GTA4) or a game that I have been waiting for years and must have it on the first day it comes out (Alan Wake, Alone in the Dark 5). What about you?
I haven't pre-ordered a game since... well, since Wind Waker. Even then that was only because they gave you that Ocarina of Time Master Quest thing. Honestly, I have never needed to pre-order anything ever. Even Halo 3 was easy to get. All you do is go to the store and buy the game.
I only reserve a game if they give you free stuff that goes with it. Devil May Cry 4 comes with a free art book if you reserve it and the same with Lost Odyssey. Other than that, I don't reserve at all.
Only games that are hard to find after a while (Persona 3), or games that come with a nice pre-order bonus (Phoenix Wright keychain), or a limited edition that's worth it (Mass Effect LE)
I only preorder games that have a collector edition to it, because sooner or later it be out of stock and I won't have the chance to get it anymore. Other than this I just buy it off the shelves rather than preordering it.
