And when I mean is for Games that include extra stuff such as Art Books, Extra DVDs or Figurines, maybe more. Are you are gamer who goes out and pay an extra $10 for the Limited version of a flasgship game?

well, I do. I like watching how a game is done, specially since I'm gonna be in the future a Game Art Designer(making a Bachelor in Game Art and design), watching the future process I will work with. And I do love getting those Art Books. They inspire me.

I wanna hear your opinion on this matter, as many people find these 'Limited Edition' version of games pointless. Do you think the $10 extra is worth it or not?

Discuss.

Not since games went up in price. They wanted an arm and a leg for the Special Edition of Halo 3.

But if it is worth it to you then why the hell not !!!!!

Not really. I have a few but that's because i got them because the regular was sold out. Most of the stuff you get isn't that great so there's is no need to get it unless you are a huge fan of the game and want to know how it was made, how ideas were formed and want a fancy case.

I usually just rent games, so Limited Edition doesn't affect me that much.

It normally depends on the game, and what content the Limited Edition has. Halo 3, for instance, had themes, gamer pics, mini-games, videos, art.......so it is worth $10. Other games, not so much. If you are a fan of a game franchise, then $10 for such things isn't bad, but if you're just starting into a game that you think is fun, stick to the regular and just enjoy the game, and buy your girlfriend something with those $10 so she'll stop buggin you about playin' it:)

Personally, I only care about limited editions when the extra content is not the "deep into technical" stuff they usually love to show, like how many pixels they used to create a scene and how difficult was to handle the angles. I like enjoying the final creation, not the process. I love when they show how the ideas came up and if it's a franchise, how they compare to its predecessor, what they feel about the game and what they were trying to achieve considering expectations. I praise this because they're exploring the final piece of art and not the ugly sketches.

I'm a sucker for Limited Editions. Halo 2 & 3, Jade Empire, those are just some of the games I purchased with a LE version. I don't know why I'm willing to pay extra for a few pieces of concept art and behind the scenes videos. Maybe it's because the DVDs I get are usually 2 disc (If available). So case in point, I pretty much enjoy watching how certain productions are made including games. Plus it's nice to have something to look forward to after completing your experience.

However, the monetary question to this is, does additional content justify an extra $5-10? In my opinion, it really depends on whether you'll be knowingly satisfied with what game publishers offer in that particular package and the total price attached. To me, $5-10 doesn't seem like a huge deal when you talk about the last generation, but the $10 increase of games in this current generation, as well as $10 more with Limited Editions, it can be a bit steep for people on a budget.

It honestly depends on the content. I'm not going to pay a lump sum more for a little plastic toy, but if they've got a "makings of" or a soundtrack or something, I don't mind dishing out 10 more bucks.

Depends on price and content...if I pay only 10 Bucks more for something that I want it´s ok.

Yeah I really like the Limited Edition versions and usually pick them up whenever I can. It does depend on what the extra content is that comes with them but I'm usually satisfied with all the ones I've gotten or wanted to get so far.

I enjoy the features they tend to contain, but unless I am extremely sure I am going to love the game, I just go for the regular edition (I felt pretty stupid paying extra dough for the limited editions of Jade Empire and Halo 2 and then trading them in days later).

No 60$ is already too much for a game.

i don't. I'm an older gamer so I wouldn't feel right having all this gaming stuff in my living room for all to see. I would feel like the 40 yar old virgin. I'm not that old either =P

No, its pointless garbage for the most part. Will I even care about it or the game for the most part 6 months down the road? No. Money saved is money spent wisely elsewhere.

Yes it is, but thank goodness Wii/PC games don't have to have that rediculous price point.

After buying that horrible worthless FFXII Limited Edition from Gamestop, I will never buy limited editions ever again!

But artbooks are cool...IF it has a lot of content. But sadly, the games I got with artbooks (forced to buy it) like Ar Tonelico (can't believe I bought that game) or Suikoden V, the artbook is a cheap, throw away worthless manual. No art in it.

So no, no more limited editions from now on.

I've only bought one before (Halo 2) and boy was that crap.

I've pretty much sworn to never buy a CE again, except for Stranglehold, since a real movie which is relevant is included.

I never buy a Limited/Collector's edition of a game ever as they cost extra for a load of content you can get yourself from the internet or the game files in the installation directory.

Yeah, if it's a game I'd like to return to time and time again, then I'd go for the limited edition. Depends on the extras, really. Burning Crusade had a great limited edition, and the legendary Halo 3 was impressive.

Not really. I have only bought Halo 2 and 3 collectors editions. Halo 2 because the collectors costed the same as the regular. Halo 3 for no specific reason. Got it on launch day.

It depends on what you get with the limited/collector's edition. If the extra stuff is worth the price difference, I'll go for the CE. I do love a nice metal case.

If it's something I really want I'll get it but the LE cases companies have been using lately suck. Like the ones Halo 3 and Gears have.
