No, some of the past and how things work in the series has some things in common with Babylon 5. Why do people like to post about Mass Effect copying things that don't even make sense.

Something that has both Half Life and Mass Effect in its context can't be terrible, but this is very close to that.

umm the whole plot about defending against a race of superhuman intergalatic creatures that will attack earth, while the villain is siding with the alien creatures when they realize humanity cannot defeat that force.

yeah, no similarity.

In general terms, you described about a dozen sci-fi films at least.

Nah. But even if it did, this interest is full of interative influences, which is okay.

I actualy saw some parallels between Final Fantasy XIII and Mass Effect. Namely between the Falsie and The Reapers.

First off- The Illusive Man and the G-Man are nothing alike. We have no idea what G-Man's motives are, what he is, or where he's from. That's quite the stretch.

Secondly, Half Life invented nothing story wise. The Combine aren't unique, not by a long shot, so it's hard to say Mass Effect ripped off something that wasn't original to begin with. The Reapers themselves seemed more inspired by Lovecraftian horror. Hell, their squid like appearance could even be considered as one giant reference to Cthulu.

I always thought that Mass Effect simply re-used the plot of Neverwinter Nights, only with more brainwashing.
