In DSfix.ini:

1. Try reducing the internal rendering resolution.

2. Maybe try to change "smaaQuality" from "1" to "0".

3. I've read setting "dofOverrideResolution" to "240" can help.

4. Also, I don't know if this would make any difference, but you seem to have "skipIntro" set to "o`", when it should be "0" or "1".

Just in case, if you have "hudBottomRightOpacity" set to "0.0f" you won't be able to see how many souls you have acquired, if you want to see that, you'd have to change it to "0.6f" or something like that.

- One thing that sometimes happens is that, if you're using Fraps, you have the Fraps' video capture key set to a key that's being used by the mod and maybe you're recording a video unintentionally while playing.

- Maybe your CPU isn't good enough for this ported game (and possibly your graphics card too, I couldn't say). You could set the CPU priority in the Task Manager for Dark Souls' process to "high" and it may help (I use "Prio" to save the priority given to any process, it's a useful tool, you can download it from its web page). Also, try setting "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance" in NVIDIA's Control Panel.

I hope this helps because I didn't think I would write more than a few lines :P and sorry if something doesn't make sense or is stupid, I'm sleepy :D.

thank you sr some of this I have done but some of this I haven't thanks a lot sr, Ill post back when I now if it worked

#4 Posted by ickda (13 posts) -

okay the lag is dead but now I notice that my key stokes or off by a few secs, no any thing that I can fix? also um do you have a link for this pro thing?

#5 Posted by KeviNOlighT (24 posts) -

Here's the software:

http://www.prnwatch.com/download.html

It's at the bottom (Prio - Priority Saver), pick the 32 or 64 bit version. After installing, everytime you right-click a process in the Task Manager, a ticked option that says "Save Priority" will appear and you can set the CPU priority you want and it will stay that way :).

Sorry, I don't know what's with the input lag (if that's what you were trying to say, I didn't fully understand what you wrote). But if you're using keyboard and mouse to play, be sure to use "Mouse Fix" mod too (probably you are, just in case):

http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/28/

I've set the sensitivity at maximum (10) in the .ini and in the in-game options too :D.

EDIT: Ha, I didn't see it, sorry.

Thanks man, Okay I am using the mouse mod, do you not see its configuration's up above? or you not use it? no prop tho. dose any one no how I can fix the input lag then?

#7 Posted by KeviNOlighT (24 posts) -

Wait, (in DSfix.ini) it also says "@ skip the intro logos", when it should be "# skip the intro logos". Now that can mess up the code, maybe try changing it?

#8 Posted by ickda (13 posts) -

thank man the input lag is almost gone because of you, I can hardly notice it. now I am being killed be cause of me not my keyboard. If you have any more advice about this tho Id like to here it cuss it now lags some time, I will see if 30 fps stops it all to gather but encase it don't then Id be happy for more info. allso incass the 30 fps fix it any idea on how much fps I can chang it two? I do have a strong pc.

I don't think I can help more, the only things that come to my mind would be:

Never use high-resolution texture mods (and maybe try to find ones with even lower resolution than the default textures, but I don't recommend that) to prevent the game from freezing while loading textures. Maybe this happens to you when switching areas? Mods that change elements that are permanently loaded in memory should be fine, like HUD or Font mods, but mods like Flora Overhaul (which really shouldn't give problems) cause lag/freeze because how the game handles textures (an example with that mod would be in Darkroot Garden, where the game keeps loading the same plants textures over and over again if you keep stepping in and out of the same area instead of keeping them in memory as long as it can, maybe this will be fixed in the future).

The other thing is that, with the new version of DSfix, I changed "unlockFPS" to "1" and left the "FPSlimit" in "60" and things started loading faster (GFWL and the menu, maybe something else), but my game generally runs at 20-40 FPS, I left it like that just in case. Although, I've read many times that the more your FPS get close to 60 the shorter your jumps and rolls are, so you should watch out for that and maybe lower the "FPSlimit" if necessary.

And that's it, I can't think of anything else o_O. Close unnecessary applications before running the game? :D.

This doesn't have anything to do with performance, but, since I just saw this program in my notification area, Flawless Widescreen will let you play at full screen with the game covering the whole screen, without the classic black bars. And yeah, I'm sleepy again :P.

EDIT: I've just read this o_O (he/she is referring to crashes at start up, but I heard many times that running games in windowed mod can get better you better performance):

"Just a shot in the dark, but have you tried running in borderless windowed mode? (rename the dsfix dll so DS can start, choose windowed mode in the in-game options, then configure for borderless windowed in dsfix.ini.) For some reason borderless windowed mode seems to work better than true fullscreen for a lot of people, myself included.

DS w/dsfix does often crash when I try to start it up, but it always works after a try or two. After getting in it's rock-solid, never crashes."

no no. I don't crash at all, it lags a little at some points when I hit stuff or defend.

Haha, that would be awesome, but I've almost never played online :\. My connection is a stupid-expensive-disgrace, I use a 3Mbps modem but my ISP limits it to 1Mbps and most of the time my connection is either slow or I get disconnected. Oh, haha plus, I don't have an XBOX. I think that telling you that I live in f*****g Bolivia says pretty much everything :\. But if by chance something happens I'll let you know :).

EDIT: See? I wasn't even able to see the two comments above until now. What I meant with the Windowed Mode was that, for some people, games run better in windowed mode than in fullscreen and maybe you should give it a try.

sorry that I haven't responded in a while gamespot blocked me because i voided there veg terms if service. thanks for all the help man wanna be friend's on here? if so Id be happy, and is English your primary?

#15 Posted by KeviNOlighT (24 posts) -

Wow! I haven't checked this for a while! I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier and, but, just in case, I'm tracking you too. So, that adds you to my friends in here, right? That's great :) and about my primary language, it's Spanish but I usually write in English, I learned in an institution (several years ago, so I forgot a lot of stuff). Also, I mostly watch YouTube videos in English, read the comments and visit sites in English so that's where my current ok knowledge of the language comes from. And thus, forgive me if my comments seem weird or something, I just learn from what I read/hear. My speaking/pronunciation is awful, though. And I'm not sure about the grammar part, like the use of comas and things like that (people have really bad grammar so I don't really know if I'm doing it right! :P). I'm sending you this as a message too.
