Cyberpunk 2077 : sooo ... what happened ?

I mean , it has been ages since we got a news from this game . they released a Mind blowing trailer in 2012 and then it was pretty much total silence .

personally I don't know why but i just got the feeling that this game will be a masterpiece . because an open world Cyberpunk RPG with great story , graphics and gameplay is exactly how i ever wanted a game to be . the closest thing I got to it was 2011's Deus Ex Human Revolution (which was amazing )

so anyway , what happened to Cyberpunk 2077 ? we should've got a new trailer or at least some info and screenshots by now . but still nothing . anyone got any news ? :/

I think it was just one of those games that was announced too soon. I'm not sure of the actual size of CD Projekt Red but I don't believe there a massive company, and there primary focus has been The Witcher 3. I imagine we'll start to see Cyberpunk 2077 some time after The Witcher 3 launches, possibly next E3.

Witcher 3 prob wont see cyber till 2019

I'm guessing it's still too early in development. Like another user said, CD Project Red is not an enormous company. As soon as they're done with the Witcher 3, they'll be free to focus on Cyberpunk 2077. Considering what an amazing job they did/do with the Witcher games, I can't wait to see an RPG from them set in a Cyberpunk environment.

I'm dying to see what this game is like.

As excited as I am for this game to get started--love cyberpunk style games---you gotta figure that CDProjekt Red is still working on The Witcher 3, and so we're not gonna hear a peep about Cyberpunk 2077 for quite some time.

I'm guessing that they planned to have The Witcher 3 out sooner, but decided to spend more time making that the best it could be.

Still, it'll be interesting to see them apply their Witcher 3 experience to Cyberpunk's open world (if it has one?).

From the bits and pieces that I've gathered on this thread, seems like its just Space Witcher.

Considering CD Projekt Red is probably still finishing The Witcher 3, that's probably why.

The premature trailer was a sort of "call to Arms".
"Are you a bad enough dude to make Cyberpunk".
Basically they were looking for talent and hired new 80 people from all over the world to work on the game. It's still very early in production if all goes well ti will be there 2016 or early 2017.

CD Projekt actually did an interview a little less than a year ago on Cyberpunk, so I wouldn't worry too much. They also said it remained 'unaffected' by The Witcher 3's delay.

I believe they were initially looking at a 2015 release, but late 2016 (at the earliest) seems more realistic with TW3 being pushed back. We should start to get a lot more info once TW3 is out.

It's actually based on a popular series of pen'n'paper RPGs. It's all...psychic cops and cybernetic rockstars and so on.

@Lulu_Lulu: I doubt it will play the same way. All they're doing is converting the world of the pen-and-paper series into a video game format, much like The Witcher series was adapted from a popular Polish fantasy series of the same name. As for how the game is supposed to be portrayed, think Deus Ex but going even more crazy with the cyber-tech.

Companies have been known to change their product based on competition. I think it was one of those things where they just wanted to get their IP out there so everyone knew about it. That way if a similar game comes out there isn't a problem.

I was hoping for something more Crysis/Dishonoured Like.

The release date is supposedly Fall 2015, it is only for PC atm but may come to Next gen consoles as well. And it is slated as a "Mature, RPG world" so probably something like A freeform open world RPG narrative like Bioware games meets The Witcher? I would assume.

EDIT: Also, CDRed also said that the Witcher delay would not effect Cyberpunk in any way.

You won't hear much about Cyberpunk 2077 until the marketing around Witcher 3 slows down a bit, would be my guess. It has been my MOST anticipated game since hearing about it. Really appreciated all the hardwork that went into Witcher 2 but kept thinking, "If only these guys would make a sci-fi game." I'm not that into fantasy settings.

Then I heard CDPR got the greenlight to turn this pnp game with years of what sounds to be well-crafted gritty lore...? Zomg. Yes, please!
