What would you say it is? When I say best, I mean like story/survival, scare factor, sound, gameplay, stuff like that. I'm not really big into horror games, but I have been playing some lately. I think out of what I've played, I'd stay Eternal Darkness for the gamecube.
Got to go with the Dead Space series at the moment. Been through both games more about 3 times and it scares the hell out of me. In Dead Space 2 at certain points, there is a creature which screams, moves from cover to cover, and pops its head out. The tention and the fear of moving forward in those moments are some of the best i have ever witnessed in a game, just a jaw dropping amazing experience, which left me sweating.
I am old school psx player I still remember the atmosphere in Resident Evil 2 when u got to enter to the some kind of rooms where was plenty of files and the room was rly small and plenty of zombies or those hands which suddenly cames thru the wall :) But all in all u should try Dino Crisis if u havent play so far - it is old game but is is necessary position for everybody who like horror games. There is a good one called Until Dawn coming exclusively for PS3 that seems really amazing. My favorite is Fatal Frame 1, 2, 3 for the PS2 and 4 Wii exclusive :)
