What do you guys suggest to play during the Halloween month? Do you have a go to horror game that you play every Halloween?

I'm thinking of getting Until dawn and SOMA.

Too many good choices... usually I play one or more of the Silent Hill games but this year I'm too deep in Metal Gear series.
Until Dawn sounds good.

Usually I'll play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and/or a Resident Evil game. I may play Dead Rising 3 or The Evil Within this year.

I'm having a ball with Dying Light, but I would also suggest the Evil Within and Outlast.

Yea I am also spending a lot of time with MGS5. Thinking of downloading silent hill 2. Been so long since I played it and I don't think I ever beat it.

Yeah Dying light was really good. Thought I wasn't going to like it but it surprised me.

@marcheegsr

It had fell of my radar just before it was released! If they hadn't released a demo, I probably would have forgotten all about it. Having some actual hands on time with it changed my mind.

Can't beat the good old Dead Space games for a good Halloween horror gaming. Also the first Resident Evil GC still holds well and that's also a scary guilty pleasure.

Oh yeah I really like it when developers put a little something special into their games on holidays. I got a kick out of playing Gears of War 3 mp on Halloween because everyone had a Jack-o-lantern for a head.

For me it's usually Silent Hill 2 or 3 or in this case Cry of Fear. Although I recently picked up the Penumbra games, so those are likely to be my Halloween games this year.

@marcheegsr: dollars or pounds? it's still £40+ over here in most places. hoping for a drop to around £25 then i'll pounce but i'm not too optimistic that'll happen this side of halloween. might dig out the evil within and give it another go seeing as though so many on here seem to rate it. didn't enjoy it first time round

I played Silent Hill 2 last year on PC but I'm not planning on playing anything in particular this month. Probably just a lot of FightCade till Uncharted 4 or SFV or Persona 5 comes out. Yakuza 5 is still nowhere to be seen, Sega keeps delaying it and I think they gonna end up pulling a Phantasy Star Online where they announced the game but it never came out yet never acknowledged it.

I have a list of backlogged horror/Halloween games that I'm trying to get through this year:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
Betrayer
The Cat Lady
Costume Quest
Grim Fandango Remaster
Neverending Nightmares
Silent HIll

*The striked out games are the ones I've beaten so far.

It's weird but I'm going to recommend a different game from all the above-

The Binding of Isaac Rebirth

Gets a big expansion on Halloween as well.

A game that lets you kill angels and Satan. It's also grossly morbid, in a similar way Splatterhouse does it.

I really like survival horror such as The Evil Within, Silent Hill, and Biohazard. But Isaac has that Halloween feel to it.

Halloween is generally viewed as a celebration of the wicked, and according to Christians it's to worship the devil. Then there's the actual truth which is a celebration in honor of the deceased. So it's easy to associate Halloween with dark, twisted flights of fantasy into the world of macabre. Fortunately the gaming industry is chalk full of frightful, ghoulish games. That being said here are my suggestions.

Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne
Dead Space 1-3

Alien Isolation

The Evil Within

Resident Evil 1-6

Devil May Cry 1-4

Outlast

Silent Hill 1-Whatever

Fatal Frame 1-65

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

F.E.A.R. 1-3

I always play the first Dead Space and the original F.E.A.R. every year close to Halloween. I play both games in the dark with headphones. I'll probably add a play through of Outlast this year.

In the past, my go to Halloween gaming was anything with zombies and coop: Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, CoD Zombies, Dead Island, Dead Nation, Zombie Apocalypse, Resident Evil 5, RDR Undead Nightmare...pretty much any horror-ish game that I could play with friends. Sadly, other responsibilities are making it harder and harder for us to have those marathon gaming sessions. So I may have to find some good single-player games to give me my Halloween horror fix this year.
