Anyone ever let someone borrow a game and not have it returned back to you?

This is what I get for being too nice. I let my friend's childhood friend borrow Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. I was being cool because it's the first time I met the guy and I wanted to be a good host. I trust my friend, but obviously the guy I lended the game too turned out to be a scumbag.

But I kept it cool and didn't say anything. And even when I was going to move back home, he still didn't return the game. Even my friend's other friend reminded him and the punk still didn't bring it back. Then the following week, he moves back to his dorm which is a university out of state.

I never saw my game again.

Anyway, I will never trust people I don't know too well, even if it's one of my friend's closest friends. This is a lesson I learned the hard way.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

First and last time: I lent Quake 2 for N64 to a friend, never got it back. I later asked if I couldborrow his copy of Mega Man 8 for PS1 from him... somehow I forgot to give it back.

But that ended my adventures in game lending.

Yeah. Metal Gear Solid for PS1, back when it was the hottest thing on the planet. Let my neighbor borrow it... and a week later, he left the state for college.... with my game. Lesson learned.

Yeah, I let my friend borrow Super Mario AllStars. She had it for months. I'd always ask for her to bring it to me at school but she never did. So finally one day I got fed up and just went to her house and got it. thank god. because that's my favorite game ever. (this was back in 3rd grade).
but then in 7th grade she let me borrow Resident Evil 2, and to this day I still have it. :D

I've lent out a couple games back in the day and never got them back. I think AD&D for the Sega Genesis was one of them. I lent that to an ex-girlfriend who kept it, but that's because I ditched her and didn't see her again for a couple years. Oh well, I got what I wanted from her LOL so it was worth losing that crappy game.

And when I was in junior high school, I lent this pudgy kid from school 3 gameboy games for his copy of "The Legend Of Zelda : A Link To The Past" for the SNES the first week it was out. My family and I moved the next week, and I never saw that kid again. I feel bad now, but at the time I was a stupid selfish kid. I have a few more similar stories, but I won't go in to it.

But being older now I realize how stupid and selfish I was, and I don't borrow games nor do I lend them out. They either don't come back, or they come back in bad shape.

I lended out Kingdom Hearts to my friend when it was first released, since my PS2 didn't work. I assumed i'd be getting it back. Nope, a couple months later he drops me as a friend. And i move away, then a year or two ago his house burns down. Not like i'm going to see that game again.

The one game I lent out was Mario Tennis for the N64... the kid lost it, but he felt so bad that he gave me Star Fox 64 instead -- and I was happier for it. :D

Yep. Rome Total War to a friend at school. He came up with the most BS stories. Like 'I gave it to my cousin who is in hospital' 'How is he going to play it in Hospital?' 'I dunno'. FFS this was when I really wanted to play it. I finally got the DISCS back and he says he lost the case. ASS. I didn't learn though, I gave him the 8 CD'd UT2K4. big Mistake, He lost 3 of the discs.

I've lent a friend diablo 1 around 3 years ago and still haven't gotten it back, although that's mainly becuase I keep forgetting to follow up on me asking for it.

I also gave a friend one of my Halo novels which I had to source from the US (I'm from Aust btw) and he moved back to Melbourne... while he still had it. :(

One time I lent out SimFarm and never got it back.

Another time, I let a friend borrow Wario Land II. His sister ended up erasing my save file, and I never got the game back.

I lent a friend from school Gears of War, I didn't see it for a good eight months, but I had his Call of Duty 3 game at the time, so I guess it was cool.

Not the lending type now, used to do it a bit back in the NES/SNES days. Come to think of it, I still have my friends copy of Starfox for the SNES, which is odd because I also still have my own copy.:? I should probably get that back to him. :D
