I like PC Gamer alot, but I haven't subscribed, none of the mags are good enough IMO to subscribe to, but I do like reading them at stores, I like PC gamers reviews a lot.
I write for one, but we're a bit nonconventional. Like we don't do reviews/previews/other typical magazine stuff, instead focusing on the competitive side of gaming. I'm really happy with how it's turning out. :)
GamesTM is the finest mag, followed by Edge. I'm not sure about the availability of the former in the US, it is not always availiable in many UK outlets where the majority of mags, gaming or otherwise, are published by a company named Future publishing, its almost a monopoly at times.
I just signed up with EGM once again. I have been througha few gaming mags but EGM and Game Informer are pretty good. I started subscribing to EGM when I was 12 and stopped when I was 18 since I went to college. Now, I am 22 and just signed up with them again for 2 years. Game Informer is quite thorough in their previews.
Games For Windows (formerly Computer Gaming World). I love the writing of the the editors. They do a great job of delving deeply into a game and explaining exactly why they enjoyed or deplored a game. They are one of the few groups of editors that I would honestly consider journalists.
