I talk for combat quality not the GAME ITSELF

Yes there is GOW and DMC/Devil May Cry 1,..4 (or maybe Ninja Gaiden) which are very good but after playing bayonetta i tried to enjoy these games again. Yes i am capable of enjoying already played games but still i couldnt enjoy as much as bayonetta. I know this kind of posts are subjective but i still think for the general =)). For me Batman, Metal Gear Vengeance and Darksiders 2 are nowhere close to that three when it comes to combat. I am not saying they are bad though.

What do you think?

My Criteria: Combat mechanics, that sadistic satisfaction, being fluent and smooth, precise and responsive controls and varieties.

Yeah dude.... DmC......

Besides you said it was subjective.... theres nothing we can say to convince you otherwise......

And obviosly the Combat in Darksiders Sucks..... its specialty is Puzzle Bosses and Minibosses...... theres nothing more satisfying than beating a boss with the same tools you use for solving puzzles and Platforming..... So it doesn't really fit in this discussion.... this goes double for Batman.....

@Lulu_Lulu: I had a funny feeling that you would reply to me about it lol. Although, I should replay that game if I can get myself into liking it but I might end up buying the remastered version if the reviews are good.

Whilst I agree that the bayonetta games are #1, i am also playing metal gear rising on the pc and that is a close second. However, an honorable mention goes to God Hand on the ps2. All the same studio though. God Hand rules!!

I love bayonettas combat but it's way to flashy and you can pull up many combos by just mashing buttons. when it comes to pure skill nothing yet beats DMC3 and DMC4 yet

@dylandr:

In PvP its that person's job to **** up your combo.....

In PvE its the enemies job to do the same....

Your argument only applies in Co-Op.....

So which of these scenarios are you talking about ?

@Lulu_Lulu: The new DmC's combat was cool and all with how weighty it felt compared to previous games. The pull/lunge adding to juggle capabilities as well as the on-the-fly switching was nice, too. But it had alot of kinks with how moves 'released' itself to sustain that weight. Certain moves just couldnt chain together that well to create custom combos. There was an ability to instantly swap weapons, but there were moves that just had a release animation that often didnt allow you to take advantage of that. At it's peak, the projectile options felt like a fish outta water in clunkiness compared to the rest of DmCs combat, with having to cycle between 3 weapons with rather dull/unpolished moves. This problem greatly reared its head everytime you encountered flying enemies.

I'm not one of "those guys" that absolutely hate and wish DmC never existed, since I thoroughly enjoyed beating up Fox News, dodging a building upside down and ground stomping Dubstep in DmC. But DmC's combat just didnt have that fluidity and flexibility that Bayonetta has.

In reference to bold: It was hard to chain some moves together but since there isn't a chain counter that resets but just a slowly draining damage rating I don't think it was a problem. This is because every single weapon had a dash move allowing you to close and get back into the action quickly, even if the last move leaves you away from an enemy. A couple of the weapons even have air dash moves.

What you are saying here explains why i dont like melee plays in Fallout, Skyrim and Borderlands etc.. I have never understood just enjoyment people are getting playing as melee in these games. I dont feel precise, i can not feel angel and where it will hit precisely etc.

As for the TC's original question: Yes, the older DmC's, and the new one as well.

God of War? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The only games that can compare to Bayonetta is Devil May Cry 3 and Ninja Gaiden Black. That's it.
