Without thinking too much, choose your favorite console company, name FIVE things you LIKE about the other two --AND-- FIVE things you DISLIKE about your chosen favorite!

Nintendo

1. Consistently poor online structure.

2. Cumbersome controls with the Game Pad.

4. Can't capture 3rd party Publishers.

5. Over-saturation of Mario.

Sony

1. First and Second Party tend to be excellent.

I genuinely try not to play favorites. My 360 was the main console for me last gen so I guess it's my favorite, but it's really not a pass/fail situation. Each has strengths I like and weaknesses I don't. So how about we do it this way:

Likes:

MicrosoftSonyNintendo
Exclusives: Halo, Forza, CrackdownExclusives: InFamous, Ratchet, TLoUKIRBY! And some other stuff I guess. Mostly Kirby
Best online of the three consolesThe Vita is a great piece of kit. OLED!The best Handhelds on the market. Animal Crossing
My favorite controllers The PS4 controller is greatAll their games, even the ones I don't care for, are undeniably well crafted
The best online game store of the bunchThe best online movie store of the bunchThe Controller Pad for WiiU is shockingly comfortable
The Voice Controlled UI for the X1 is pretty slickThe new dashboard layout is snappy and well made. Nintendo isn't afraid to try something new and interesting

Dislikes:

MSSonyNin
X1's party system is a huge step backwardsThe personal info hack still lingers in my mind every time I log in to PSNI never really need to hop upon a Goomba ever again
Battery door on the back of the X1 controller feels flimsyInstant Game Collection disappears when you let your PSN lapseScared of the online world
Need to build up their stable of exclusivesI don't care for the built in battery on the controller. When it dies, you need a whole new controller rather than a battery pack replacement Seriously, where is my Kirby game for the WiiU?

X1's party system is a huge step backwards

That's surprising. How so?

Nintendo

1. First and Second Party tend to be excellent.

2. Innovative gameplay

3. Great library of ip's

4. Doesn't milk series with annual releases

5. Is different to the other companies

Sony

1. Tends to try to do too much with everything

2. Completely forgets to advertise for their franchises

3. The store tends to be bothersome to go through

4. Patches for PS3 were tedious and time consuming

5. Has not bought the rights to their old franchises aka Crash and Spyro

Microsoft

1. Defined modern online console gaming.

2. Opened the doors to Indies with the 360.

3. Best multimedia functions

4. Best chat system on the 360

5. Most Secure Online structure when it comes to hackers.

Those are mine

@The_Last_Ride: @Phantom_Leo: "Doesn't milk series with annual releases" Wat. Have you been paying attention to Nintendo these past 15 years?

Less easy to party up like it was on 360. I'm sure it'll get ironed out.

Sony

1. Completely fails when it comes to marketing. There were several excellent games they released last gen that flew under the radar or could have been bigger hits than they were.

2. The Playstation Store's interface is absolutely terrible.

3. Sits on old but exceptional IPs that could become something special again with the better tech. Why not make a new Colony Wars?

4. The Vita memory card price tags are way too high.

5. The PS3 update system is terrible. Greatly improved on the PS4, but given all the PS3 titles I want this year it's still an issue that'll bother me.

Nintendo

1. Manages to breathe new life into otherwise stagnant franchises. Just when I think I'm done with Mario, along comes Galaxy.

2. The Wii-U is home to two Platinum Games exclusive titles, and Platinum is awesome.

3. The Virtual Console, although updated at a snail's pace, is awesome thanks to Nintendo's rich catalog.

4. The DS gave JRPGs a much needed home where they flourished.

5. The few new IPs Nintendo takes a chance with are often excellent. See: Xenoblade Chronicles.

Microsoft

1. Popularized online gaming for the home console.

2. Despite my dissatisfaction with 4, Halo is an exceptional franchise.

3. Helped pave the way for smaller, downloadable games on the console front.

4. The 360 controller is still one of the best ever made.

5. Markets their exclusives in a way that really grabs your attention.

@Phantom_Leo: 1: Sony tends to engineer itself into a corner when they design hardware without looking at things in perspective. Like when they put that serial port on the PS1, which was a cheap way to play pirate games, or when they designed the PS1 pcb in such a way that anyone could put a bypass chip on it, enabling pirate games. Or again when they designed RAM allocation on the PS3 in such a way that it made party chat impossible.

2: Mario is an italian stereotype, ok he's not really offensive, but I think it's surprising no one complained when he started going "It's-a-me a-Mario! Spaghetti! Ravioli! Mamma mia!" :P
