In my market at least, less than 20 hours away. I will be picking up mine along with a copy of Pokemon Y.

Anyone else getting a new door stop tomorrow? If so/ not why?

I already have an XL, I am hoping the screen resolution is better on the 2DS.

EDIT: Updated with my hands-on with the 2DS.

I might pick one up as an Animal Crossing machine, if the price is right. Which it probably won't be, but I can only hope.

As far as design goes I still vastly prefer the original model of the 3DS.

I'm happy with my regular 3DS. If I were going to buy a new one, I'd just go with another one of those since I prefer the design of that model. Far more compact and portable.

I'll have mine in an hour, will write up impressions shortly after that.

I am very curious to see if the higher analog stick and buttons make for a more comfortable grip than with the XL.

I am picking up one tomorrow for my four year old along with Pokemon Y and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. He has been dying to play video games with his older brother (10) but I did not want him to have a 3DS because of the 3D effect. This seems like the perfect system to introduce him to playing video games.

@lozengez: Nice impressions. Good to hear the ergonomics have been improved. Does the system only outputting in mono affect the audio quality at all?

@lozengez: Good write up. Glad to hear it sharpened the display back up a bit from the 3DS XL goof. I think I still prefer the original 3DS hardware, even if the 3D isn't that great on the 3D versions of the system, I still prefer the clam shell design.

Stereo is always better when you can have it, no way around that, but the mono output does is not something you notice as being poor.
