Much as we miss him, it does make a nice change not to see Michael Schumacher doing his John Travolta impression on the top step of the podium once a fortnight.

And with brother Ralf now pedalling around in the DTM (not that he bothered the podium that often), the grid is a Schumacher-free zone for the first season since 1991.

Plans are afoot to remedy the situation, however, with the news that Michael's nine-year-old son Mick has already competed in his first kart race, at the Sils circuit near Gerona, Spain.

The youngster, cleverly nicknamed 'Schumi III' by the German media, is apparently a pretty handy karter.

So, expect another period of Schumacher domination to start around 2019. At least Lewis Hamilton will have had a good run at it by then...

They're referring to the surname - Michael, Ralf, and now Mick. In like goodness knows how many years' time :lol:
