In my very humble opinion, it was basically the only truly amazing thing announced for next gen systems. It's not perfect (still no night racing and no weather effects, no F1) but I expect it (like Forza 3 and 4) to be way ahead of the curve once more. And it does look bloody great.

As an avid driving game fan this game may well be the deal clincher! I am sure I will end up owning both eventually - just a case of which to get first!

I am interested in this game, I think they have got Indy Car in this as well as a licensed event and cars. I hope they do right by that license and not like Gran Turismo 5 with the WRC cars which would randomly appear in road car events and rally events with a mixture of WRC cars and standard cars (why not lock them purely to rally events or make it so you can pick what events they are available to).

Do we know what tracks are going to be in this version of the game?

I'm gonna need a lot more than one game to get me to part with $500 I'm afraid.

Good thing that you'll also be able to play 99% of the games released next gen!

Btw, GS needs new emoticons, these ones are horrible.

Nothing official yet, besides a very sweet-looking Prague street circuit.

To be honest I'm looking forward to GT6 more, because I can keep using my current wheel setup on PS3, don't have a wheel that's Xbox compatible.

Updated to be made an official thread.

Had to keep Alberto's post in, as:

1) It'd be rude if I'd taken them out;
2) Dem .gifs... just... wow.

Unlikely. Xbox did the damage they can't seem to undo, even after their 180.

That said, I don't see me buying a new gen console for at least another year - F1 2013 and GTA V for the 360 (plus I'm looking at the Wii U first anyway, Mario Kart & Super Smash Bros.).

Both the PS4 and the One feel like a waste of money at this point. I'm so unimpressed by what has been shown. If MS didn't have that ace in the hole that is Forza 5, which I really want, I would skip both entirely for a year or two.

While I won't be buying a new console just for one game, Forza 5 is currently as close to a system seller as I can see.

Coming in to the current gen I really wanted Gran Turismo, but having had plenty of time on both consoles in their early days through work, and the fact that there was no GT available I went with the 360 and played Forza - loved it, and went on to buy 3 and 4 afterwards. As this gen comes to an end I am absolutely a Forza fan over GT.

The online side, Rivals mode, online leaderboards, clans, challenges, and the regular updates just made it so much better. I put in soo many hours racing against friends times in the Rivals competitions, each shaving tiny fractions of seconds off lap times getting into the top 1-2% on certain tracks - it was great fun and so addictive.

The graphics on Forza 5 demos look amazing, and given that the competition from GT is going to only be current gen it effectively makes next gen racing a single console experience.

If only MS hadn't had such a stupid set of ideas about their launch. Thankfully it looks like common sense has prevailed, but I am going to wait for both consoles to launch and see real world feedback on how they work and what "special features / restrictions" they each have.

Actual launch date now. 22nd November. Cheers to the TV ad that's just popped up for me.
