NOTE:

Ayrton Senna will NOT be in the game. CodeMasters are looking at this as something to include in the future.

I feel like the Williams and Lotus cars have been announced as being in the game along with the Ferrari Irvine drove I think.

I do not agree that we need to pay more for day one DLC, but we'll have to live with it. Also apparently there will be no demo so it'll be a gamble if I get it on PS3 or PC, if the PS3 version is as bad as 2011 they can keep their game. I did find a couple of extended gameplay videos from the press event though, with retro cars:

Haha, that would require going to the 2000's category which I would hardly say is considered classic. Maybe in another decade we could talk about that but given those cars are really just one generation older than what currently runs that would be a bit premature.

Anybody have any thoughts what platform they are going to go with?

I've been waiting for them to add the cars of decades past for a long time. Definitely picking this up.

Wow, £59.99 is a lot for all the extra content you actually get.

Also, just at to be picky, F1 Championship Edition and F1 06 both had mid race saves too.

By mid Session do they mean you can save between Q1 and Q2 or as in you can save during a race?

Did it? I couldn't remember the option being on that which is why I didn't put it down.

The game already saves between qualifying sessions - so "Mid-Session save returns" means the races as well.

Added a poll. It might be a very one-sided poll, but it's there nonetheless.

In regards to cars/drivers not yet announced, I believe the 90's lineup will be completed with Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher. Codies have said each driver will be lined up to a team which is associated with them and teammate (even if they never were teammates in real life). On the basis there's no McLarens in the game, Hakkinen won't partner Coulthard so my guess would be a Williams pairing of Coulthard/Hill (which can also become Villeneuve/Hill). Irvine being in surely means Schumacher is in as Ferrari teammates (so the Ferrari car(s) could be either the F310, F310B, F300 or F399).

This then leaves the fantasy pairing of Mansell and Prost, presumably, for the other Williams lineup (man, there really are a LOT of Williams cars in this game...).

As for the 80's, there's still a lot of gaps to be filled before we can really guess at filling in the remainder.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Actually, there's a mixture of Mansell/Hill/Coulthard you can have too, as per 1994 season.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT 2: Looking at the cars announced and the years they ran, you can have some for of guess as to who could make up the 80's lineup:

WILLIAMS: The two cars confirmed at the moment ran in 1980 and 88, so you could have: Alan Jones, Carlos Reutemann, Nigel Mansell (again), Riccardo Patrese, Martin Brundle or Jean-Louis Schlesser (the latter two are unlikely, given they only raced once in place of Mansell in 88).

LOTUS: The Lotus is from 1988 - and the big name there which hasn't been announced yet is Nelson Piquet. You can probably bet your grandmother Piquet will be in this game. Satoru Nakajima however...

FERRARI: There is a Ferrari in both decades - we just don't know which ones yet. On the basis Gerhard Berger is in the game it cuts it down to either the F1/87, F1/87-88C or 640 (cars he drove from 87-89). This leads to either Michele Alboreto being in the game or... surprise surprise, Nigel Mansell. Given interchangability of drivers, Mansell could very well also be in the 80's as a Williams, Lotus OR Ferrari driver. He could be in all three cars!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT 3: More Ferrari guesses - with Mario Andretti in, you could have Gilles Villeneuve too which would lead to the Ferrari 126C2 of 1982 being in the game. It could also lead to the Lotus 81 or 81B (both 1980) in the game too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT 4: Fittipaldi will probably be a Lotus driver. His only time in F1 in the 80's was in a Fittipaldi car.

I don't know why, but I love late 90s F1 cars, so I'm hoping the 99 Ferrari is in, even if Hakkinen's McLaren isn't :(

My understanding is they are having issues getting licenses, its not just the teams and drivers, but sponsors as well that they need to get permission from which creates a whole load of work.

A little more sleuthing has allowed me to find out (at least) two of the Ferrari's we will see: the F1/87-88C [From 1988] and the F399 [1999].

The 80's era now has three cars from 1988 out of the 5.

Right, found out my pick for the last two drivers in the 90's era was indeed correct - it's Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher. Doubt the Benetton will be in as:

1) You'd need a second driver associated with the team - Schumacher is the only one from the 90's;

2) They've talked about Schumacher as a "Ferrari Legend" - pretty much says he'll be Ferrari only.

Also all drivers in the game will be alive currently - so that rules out my prediction of Gilles Villeneuve being in the game.

You might have guessed from the cars released so far, but I think I've found confirmation only three teams will appear in the classic cars: Ferrari, Lotus and Williams.

WOAH! Massive update from Codies now gives us (nearly) the entire line-up of classic content. We're only missing two drivers now. Provided it's not faces from the 80's side of things, there's 39 different drivers to select (22 from 2013 plus 17 in classic - which was the number we originally started out with, which suggests no one from the 80's not already there will come over to fill those last two gaps).

EDIT: Beens as we have the "fantasy" driver for Williams in 1999, the liklihood is the 99 Williams missing driver is either Ralf Schumacher or Alessandro Zanardi.

EDIT 2: As the second gap (92 Ferrari) is likely to be a fantasy driver... Rubens Barrichello, perhaps?

After the horrific 2011 port and the meh 2012 port I'm not touching the PS3 version again. That, and I found the standard edition on PC for £19.99, and I figured that buying that and then the DLC later would work out cheaper. So yes, I am, and so is my F1 2012 co-op buddy, can't wait to try it out again :P

F1 2010 was fine, but 2011 was a mess, the frame rate struggled to maintain anything over 25FPS and it teared constantly, in addition to looking far worse than the 360 version in the process. 2012 looked much better, but the frame rate still isn't anywhere near as smooth as it should be. Compared to F1 Championship Edition, Codemaster's PS3 ports have not been good by any stretch.

It does indeed, but all the footage that has been released so far is Xbox 360 footage, and the Xbox versions of 2011/12 have been really smooth. But fingers crossed anyway, we won't know til after it comes out since there's no demo.

[QUOTE="Redders1989"]

New trailer has been released - which includes another car for us to drive!

For Time Trial use only, you can drive Lauda's Ferrari from 1976 - all you have to do to get your hands on it is sign up to CodeMasters' RaceNet.

Rayrota

Already on Racenet, what's your username?

Same as here/Xbox Gamertag I believe, Redders1989.

sammyboy123 on PS3, solidsnake530 on Steam, Racenet could be either of the two or oldsnake530. It's cross platform isn't it?

In good news for everyone (and thanks to Garfield for pointing this out to me) - Classic Edition is now £44.99, with Standard £38.99. That's more like it!
