Circuit City will be closing 155 stores in an effort to cut the fat during these lean economic times.

The stores that will be going out of business will be closed on Tuesday Nov. 4th and liquidation sales will begin Wednesday Nov. 5th.

Check this list (pdf) of closing stores to see if any near you will be going out of business.

The only Circuit City in my town is going out of business, which is a shame, because I have got some great deals there, but it is not surprising to me at all. Purchasing items there was absolutely and consistantly horrible.

Oh that's just great! Now I'm going to have to travel all the way to Aurora for the nearest one, and that's 30 minutes traveling time from where I live. *irked*

Wow both stores near me are closing, including the one that just opened no more than 6 months ago.

None near me :P But I hpoe they close the one that was near my old house. They never had any of their advertised sale items on the floor (probably had a collector working for them).

Hmm...both the Circuit City stores around here seem to be closing. Maybe I can find some time to get to one of them to see if I can find something interesting.

Yay, none of the stores in my area are closing. This is really good cause the bf has been telling everyone to get me Circuit City gift cards for my birthday in two weeks.

Champaign's not on there, which means Joliet is the closest to me and that's around two hours. Pardon me if I don't feel too bad for you... ;)

Yeah, same with me though none opened recently. I guess I'll have to go check it out then.

The one closest to me seems to be staying open, but there are a couple within an 45 minutes to an hour drive. Might be worth a drive.

I stopped by yesterday and got absolutely nothing. Games are currently marked at only 10% off. Not enough to make me throw down yet.

Yup, I stopped by mine yesterday and today; saw the 10% off (only 5% for consoles) and turned away empty handed. I expected that of course, and I wonder how long we'll have to wait until the discounts get to 30%, 40% or over. And what will be left by then?

I have been taking stock of their ... uh ... stock; keeping me eye on those things I'm hoping to pick up once discounts go deep enough. Twilight Princess (GCN), Diablo II battle chest (PC), and a few others. Maybe a 360 console if I'm lucky.

While not exactly crowded, there were certainly more people in there than usual, but I don't think they were making hardly any sales. A random lady customer even happened to offhand comment to me that the prices at Walmart were still cheaper than what was there. Heh.

Patience ... patience. :)

Yeah it took a while for the CompUSA prices to get down to a reasonable amount. I picked a few games at >50% when they were closing stores a while back.

Doesn't surprise me at all, thats what happens when you fire your experienced workforce for lower paid kids.

Anyways, not to rain on your parade, but from what i've heard things are hardly marked down (and seeing as prices there on games are still quite rediculas from time to time like tekken for PSP still at $40, no idea why, but they all are) :-\ I think im still gunna go up there, maybe they have bluray movies on sale :-D

Edit: guess you guys know about the hardly marked down prices. I just hope they really do drop a lot, since they are not going out of buisness, im not holding my breath.Â
