Fill in the blank.  I wonder if anyone else has "buy on sight" items that really stand out from the want list.  For me, it's Atlus or Renovation games that I don't have and anything that comes in a Collector's Edition.  It's a sickness, but I never claimed to be perfect.  Please enlighten us with those things that cause your wallets or purses to open as if moved by an unseen force.

For me, pretty much just about any fighting game, even if it isn't very good. Hence the more recent purchases of Suiko Enbu, Toshinden 1, and Asuka 120% Limited.

Gotta go with Mario platformers, SSX, and "quirky" games like Katamari Damacy or Gitaroo Man.

I'm a sucker for any JRPG that looks like it could be hard to find down the road.  So Working Designs, Atlus, NIS.  I can't help myself.

Heh, I'm much the same way. I've bought a couple trashy PS2 games at five a pop. The odd thing is, the best games I've gotten from bargain bins have been like two or three dollars; the ones I haven't liked as much have been five or more.

same thing happens to me.

1. Any Mortal Kombat game. I was so excited when they just announced all of the PS2 special editions for Armageddon. Then I realized the 2nd thing I'm a sucker for....

2. Collectors editions. If there's a choice between a special edition game and the regular retail version, I always go with the special edition. Which is why I'm probably going to waste a small fortune on all 3 PS2 versions, the Xbox version, and the Wii version. I only bought one special edition of Deception (Mileena's version), and now I'm kicking myself because the rest are impossible to find.

I don't mind used games for the older systems or older games, but I don't see the point in paying $5 less for a game so that the retail chain can get all the money from the sale instead of the publisher.

I think the Mileena version was the most common. It's the only one Best Buy had. I think each retailer got a different version exclusively.

1. what about after the game (or prefered version) isn't around anymore? 2. that's entirely possible. retailers and companies have done things like that before...

You mean if a new version isn't available? I'd definitely buy a used version of a current generation game, as long as it was complete and playable. When it comes to older games, I'm not so picky. And I buy empty game cases from MS, Sony, and Nintendo so that I can replace damaged boxes from any used games I buy.

cheap games.

If the game is cheap enough, I don't have it or it's rare,  consider it sold.

rare games

If I see a rare game I can't help but pick it up.  It just looks all lonely there with no one to play with it.  :-/
Even if I already own it, as long as it is a good price, I'll pick the game up.  That is why I have 3 copies of Chrono Trigger for SNES(not the rarest game but I consider it worthwile to get).

Anyone else not able to pass up a good buy even though they don't need the game?
