This has me quite interested and I hope it will be a good print mag again.

Yeah, I'll subscribe. You got to admire the passion of Steve Harris to take back his baby. I wonder how much Ziff-Davis padi for EGM back in the over-priced days of the dot-com boom.

EGM was my favorite print mag. I'm glad to see it has been resurrected. I'll definitely be subscribing.

I will subscribe.

While I am sure I am in the vast minority EGM in the past few years really fell off IMHO. So much so that I find that Game Informer seems to be the source that gets information first and runs with it.

I Hope this will return them to the good ol days.

I concur, cosmo.  Once they got rid of the number grades, then reduced down to one reviewer per game on many games I became less interested.

I also found that the tone was becoming more inappropriate towards the end.  As much as I love Seanbaby's humor in his column, that kind of juvenile bodily function humor started to appear in the main articles.

Since I had a subscription to EGM until september, I now am getting Maxim instead of EGM with a little note on the cover telling me why I am getting Maxim instead. Lame.

I can't believe that Maxim is supposed to be an equivalent for EGM.  I'm cancelling IMMEDIATELY.  As in, right now.  Maxim was good when it first came out, with a good balance of content about gadgets and interesting stories, but now is way too much about nudity.  I mean, if you want pr0n, buy it.  I don't, and I don't want a "men's magazine" either.

I just feel badly for the kids who will likely have Maxim mailed to them "in place of" EGM.

Ya know, I am glad I found this thread cause I was oblivious as to why I was getting Maxim. I told my wife it had to be a friend doing it as a joke cause I would never subscribe. Though, I never had any message anywhere on the mag saying it was in place of EGM.

As far as EGM coming back I feel (if they really do) it will be web-only. I rather have print form myself but it seems gaming mags in the US as least are dying off quickly with nothing to replace them. UK mags are still going strong.

That's what I don't get UK mags still going strong. I only get Gamesmaster as it covers more consoles, and that has a circulation of about 55,000, with Edge having 30,000, even the third party magazines seem to do well. I could go into WHSmith and choose between 20 or more different magazines about gaming. The price of the magazines may have something to do with it, or maybe people in the UK prefer magazines to the Internet who knows.

I think it is hilarious that you guys are getting Maxim. "No really Honey, this is because I subscribed to a gaming magazine that went bust because after they were taken over by Ziff-Davis which then started to spread the talent thin through their various properties and over-spent on aquiring new assets and given the current economic environment they were unable to find suitable levels of credit to balance their debt leading to a minimalization of there ongoing interests.  THAT'S why I'm looking at boobies in a magazine.  Hon... Honey!?"

UK magazines are a completely different business model because of the centralization of the UK population in London. Less stores and less miles means less spoilage of mags.

Guess I spoke too soon. I just got three Maxims in the mail.

I mailed my "please send me a refund" thing back. I have no problems with people that want Maxim, I just don't find there's enough content.
