Let's say hypothetically that a user joins here at age 12, despite the minimum age being 13. Now let's say, hypothetically (of course), that the user in the example is now currently over the age of 13..... could said user still face punishment such as banning for lying about age initially, despite currently being over the minimum age now, a few years later? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

@Kevlar101

I have seen these cases before. The rules on age are not retroactive.

Correct. I can attest to this because I used to be a mod. Once the user is of age, then there's nothing that can be done.

This is off-topic, but I remember the days when moderation cases and queries can be seen publicly. :\

You mean the Asks the Mods forum? Yeah, I don't get why they got rid of it. It was good forum because people could learn from the moderation instances as they were being explained.

I thought so too - but then in hindsight, I realized that it can also be used by more experienced and wilier users to nail newbies who did not know any better. (Yes, I am willing to admit that I am one of those users.)

I'd rather transparency be a double edged sword than both parties wondering why they were being cut with it.
