Some threads that I enter are insanely laggy. As in, using my mouse wheel or keyboard arrows to scroll usually takes about 4-5 seconds (oftentimes more) to register. To get through one page takes me, literally, 10-15 minutes at the least. I don't know if this is due to ads or maybe some user sigs that are GIFs, but it makes some topics unbearable. I can't even type responses, I have to open a text editor, do it there, then C & P it in.

Any idea what may be causing this performance, and how to fix it?

Dunno how to fix it but a few users have complained about the lag as well, my guess it's the issue with the html crap that's running on the site now.

@Ballroompirate@MirkoS77 Can both of you please post your OS and browser version?

Also have you noticed if it only happens in threads with a lot of pages, or is it random?

Chrome Version 39.0.2171.99 m, Win 7 64.

Seems to be random, though there's always usually more than one page. I've noticed that sometimes if I switch tabs and then go back, it's normal again, but this doesn't always work.

Same thing here. It happens pretty regularly with a thread here and there. Most recently, it's this thread for me: Club Nintendo Shutting Down, Flipnote 3D in February.

Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit)
Mac OS X Version 10.7.5

That thread appears to work fine in Firefox, haven't tried Safari.

It's random, it happens in threads with and without vids/pics, it happens in threads with only a few posts (like 6) to threads with 3 pages worth of responses. Fyi this is the only site that this has been happening to so don't pretend it's on our end.

Seems like this happens only with Chrome then. I'll pass it along.

Hay guyz,

Happening in this thread:

http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/new-hatred-trailer-31821865/#46

Can't do anything, type, barely scroll, mouse takes forever to turn into a finger when placed on links etc. Like it's being run on an 8086 with 20k of RAM or something.

That could also be because of an ad from a sleazy ad provider. When we see it we kill it but it pops back up from somewhere else. We hate them as much as you do. It sucks and we're really sorry about it

This is happening again. Is there nothing that can be done about it, just got to grit the teeth and bear it kind of deal? Is there anything I can do on my end to help? Delete cache? Something?

My best suggestion at this time would be to report the link in this thread here so we can try and see if this issue is being caused by something specific. If we can determine pattern, we might have a better chance of fixing the issue.

I know what this is. Its usually one of two things. Either a bad ad is sucking up CPU or render-blocking. These kinds of ads have popped up in the network a lot lately. When I see one I kill it with fire. This will also happen if the thread is video and or animated gif heavy. We're working specifically on that to improve performance. I know its really annoying.
