If you come across any display bugs, please post them here. (Include your browser version, and OS)

Jan 8:

  • While using the dark theme, the search bar is now dark grey instead of white.
  • New font for forum posts and threads.

Nov 12:

  • A delete button is added to profile wall posts. You can delete posts on your wall by hovering over the post and clicking the trash bin icon in the top right corner.

Oct 24:

  • Quotes / Quote chains got a different look. The dark bar at the top of each quote is gone.

Sept 30:

  • The navigation header at the top is redesigned. ( Before | After )
  • The avatar and notifications icons now stay on the header all the time, instead of disappearing when you scroll down.
  • New search bar.

Sept 10:

  • Homepage: The "Latest on Gamespot" section was replaced by two tabbed sections, "Recent on Gamespot" and "Popular on Gamespot". ( Before | After )

Aug 28:

  • Red border added to all drop down menus.
  • Community menu renamed to Forums.
  • Video menu redesigned.

Aug 18:

  • When you don't have any notification nothing will appear next to the notification icon, instead of showing 0.

Aug 7:

Home Page:

  • A search field was added below the big tiles.
  • On the right, the reviews list used to be placed before the top upcoming games, now it's the other way around.

Avatar Area:

  • Everything is aligned to the left instead of centered.
  • Username color is a slightly brighter orange.
  • Font for Member Since and post count is regular instead of bold.

Forums:

  • Quote, Reply, and Flag buttons are bigger. I'm guessing it's because users complained about how easy it is to accidentally hit the flag button.

  • The page number buttons has a brighter font, looks more visible now.
  • The line at the top of each post used to have the post number and username in white, now the whole line is in grey. It was pointless to highlight those things so this is good, looks cleaner now.
  • The Replies column is now displayed before Views.
  • Font color for posts used to be white, not it's more greyish.
  • Some minor changes to the borders around posts.

Community Page:

  • Board titles are now White instead of grey.

Additional notes:

  • The color changes I mentioned are as seen on the dark theme. All changes were also applied to the light theme with different colors but to the same effect. (ie making things more or less visible)

They also switched the Replies and Views around in the forums. Used to be Views then Replies, now it's back to the way it used to be.

I'm liking the changes but a change log would be super.

Oh that's great, the previous placement never made sense. I'll update the post.

Oh yeah it did!

I told one of the devs before about how having the board names in grey and the topic titles in orange highlights the topic titles, when in fact you'd want to do the opposite, and he said he'll look into it. Now the board names are in white, which fixes that. :D

The point of this thread is to list the changes from today's update, if you're experiencing a bug then make a separate thread about it..

Edit: nvm.

@harry_james_pot: Good Job!

@Cloud_imperium: The site scales to screen size. If you're on a phone or tablet that'll be why it looks like that. If you're on a PC try zooming out on you browser.

Decent changes. I think highlighting the username in each post is good though.

Having it aligned to the left makes it look so messy. It's like our avatars aren't big enough.

Thanks for listing the changes though!

@harry_james_pot: Thanks for making this thread, as I posted in another thread already...

I just did a CSS refactor. Things might be slightly different across the site as we reduced the bloat of CSS and HTML. I'll be pushing continuous updates that focus on performance so small changes like this, don't be alarmed.

Once I have a moment today, i'll add to this thread about the global changes that benefit the site. It was a lot of framework changes that I'll be continuously pushing that will help performance across the site. It might be a bit too technical but should provide nice insight to those who care.

Wow.. Way to be rude about it...

A lot of users were wondering if the changes were intentional or just display glitches, even created a thread about it here, so I posted this to clarify things. If this thread is upsetting you that much then just ignore it..

If I'm rude it's because I'm tired of all these weird underhand tactics this site seems to be using to avoid dealing with the real problems it has. Like asking for feedback and things readers would like to see added or changed - and then ignoring them. Or the complete lack of any progress updates or responses to what IS being done and what to watch out for in the future...

It's been almost a year and the major problems this site had at the time of the revamp are still here. Your readers are tired and frustrated and don't understand why you pay so little respect to the community that carries you. It just seems like the entire staff needs a kick up the ass...

First of all I'm not a staff member.

Second, since the redesign all the useful feedback was buried amongst a huge amount of threads of not so useful complaints and mostly bug reports. That's why the suggestion thread is here now. I know it's been a month since it was created, but they're not ignoring it (In fact a couple of staff members posted in there, saying that they're keeping an eye on it). Don't forget what the site had to deal with this past month, with the layoffs and content getting cut, I'm sure it's been really hard for everyone. Just give them sometime.

For some reason the box that is used for responding to threads doesn't show any of the formatting anymore. Also, the font is all black and extremely hard to read. Picture included as to what I'm talking about.

@stylyy

  • Emblems in the trophies tab are showing as broken image links.
  • On mobile, there's a huge ad that covers the drop down menu and makes it impossible to use:

My game notifications just got broken recently, not sure if it's related with the new UI changes.

That's a site function, not just a UI element. But notifications keep getting broken then fixed over and over every week, so don't bother making a thread about it. :P

@stylyy: Have you noticed the way the reply box is all borked up? It used to be nice and formatted, you could see the quotes you wanted to delete and it was much easier to use. This is becoming nightmarish.

Updated.

Also there's a glitch with an ad on the homepage. Screenshot. As you can see, the ad on the right isn't loading and there's this big empty space below the main tiles. It's happening on multiple browsers and computers, and the only thing that fixes it is enabling adblock.

@stylyy This^ is still happening.

Edit: That giant search bar disappears while scrolling down, and appears while scrolling up.. Is it supposed to do that? Also why is it so white? It's.. blinding.. :(

You also cannot open a search in a new tab/window.

It's supposed to appear/disappear based on scrolling, yes. As for the colour - not sure..thanks to disappearing on scrolling down it doesn't really bother me much personally.

I assume you're referring to the inability to right click->open in new tab/window or otherwise (e.g. ctrl/shift modifiers respectively) open the search results in a new window?

Yes exactly. The old search was touchy but at least I could open a new tab or window by right clicking.

I open all links in a new tab, so it's a thing that irks me something fierce.

Are you on the light theme? Because on the dark it's really distracting, I wish it blends more instead of being just a big white rectangle.

No, I'm on the dark theme, it's just not visible at all most the time for me as have a tendency to scroll down a little almost immediately and will only scroll up (making it appear again) briefly to grab messages to quote when quoting multiple users at once - after which I of course scroll back down and it disappears again. I do understand your concern however, it does stand out quite a bit while it's visible, for me it's simply not visible unless I want it to be for the most part though - I can certainly see it being distracted if you have a tendency to scroll down further than intended and then scroll back up a little, making it appear again when you don't intend to use it.

It won't distract light theme users of course, as it's white next to a similarly light colour (though the top bar remains dark in both). In dark you get this awkward dark navbar-light search bar-dark rest of the page thing while it's visible. The colours could be inverted I suppose (dark background, light text for search bar), so long as it doesn't negatively affect the visibility of the text you type in it too much for other users. It'd still look okay on the light theme that way, as it'd just be dark-dark-light instead of dark-light-light for navbar-search-everything else.

Yeah that would be a great solution.

I will play with it today, try to find a balance.

Comments sections below articles don't show about half the time. Reloading the page does not fix the issue. If I come back later they might display. I think this has been happening since the last update on 9/30. Using Chrome Version 37.0.2062.124 m on Windows 7 Professional.

Also, in IE 9.0.31 Page layout is completely borked. It's ignoring style sheets:

Came to say the same. No Comments appear under Articles anymore all the time for me. Seemed to start w/ the last update as well. Using IE11 w/ Win 7 on a company computer w/ firewall but only for NSFW sites. Email, Facebook, Reddit are all unblocked.

It's a known problem with Livefyre, and it's on their side not GS.

My notifications page is listing comments in narrow columns instead of taking advantage of available width space, this has been like this for me for a long while, nothing I do seems to fix it...
