What happened to the family friendly Gamespot I used to know? It used to be a place were even young people could visit, be safe for work, and have high standards, but now it's become very raunchy like that website we're not supposted to name. That OT after hours forum is just dumb and sleazy.

System Wars is full of trolls who never have anything to say worth discussing, vulgar signatures and avatars are everywhere, the help forums are often vacant and unanswered questions linger for days or weeks on end.

I can't help but wonder what happened to this website. Is this awful change an attempt to get more traffic and make the maximum amount of money? Will racism, homophobia, porn and gore be next on the menu?

Have you noticed that about 90% of the GS vets have left SW, and that the large majority of users there are new accounts?

You mean How to Gamespot? Because rangers often respond pretty fast. You're just not paying attention.

I still see most of the old guard here (they are online), they just lurk most of the time.

No I was talking about the moderation forum, I see threads with one post there that go unanswered for weeks on end. Sometimes other users post in those threads and that's against the rules, so they get deleted fast, but a lot of them remain unanswered. I guess some mod goes around deleting responses but doesn't answer questions.

Hey bigboi.

We are always looking out for feedback and concerns about the community in general but we do not respond to every single inquiry out there. Partly because of the high volume of requests; and we like to be thorough by researching, monitoring and re-evaluating why we have the current rules in place. Here's some brief answers to the concerns you have.

Safe for work content: Signatures have been reported as a problem as of late, and we have been in discussion about it for some time. If someone is frequently in the OT AH to post with a signature as you suggested, they might get away with it more frequently than if they also post in System Wars because it doesn't get reported. So, I'd suggest reporting this content as appropriate. Here's a tip for you though! If you go to your settings under the images tab you can disable all community images for your computer at work. It's like magic!

Click spoiler to see what it looks like and what to select in your settings. Note: You'll want to make sure you don't have the settings already enabled or you won't see this image.

Unanswered questions in the Moderation Clarification station: The forum header states that we have the right to refuse to respond to any inquiry. In all honesty if someone doesn't get an answer it mostly has to do with a moderator that is volunteering at the time doesn't believe they can answer the question. But since you asked about it I'll take a peek in there in a moment.

System Wars is actually like a warzone? While we'd prefer people to be much more friendly, sharing balloons and cotton candy isn't a good match up for this community. If you truly want a sanctuary the Primary Games Discussion is the place for you. That doesn't mean we're not considering changes for this community in particular. The System Wars community is always evolving but that also means we sometimes need to make adjustments to the rules. To give you an insider tip, the community team does end up discussing System Wars many times in a given month. The questions that sometimes end up surfacing include: Where do we see this community going with the next gen consoles; how far are people going with insults; how does a tame insult like "your stupid" really end up as an actual personal attack; what kind of rules can be too restrictive and result in many upset members again.

I guess the big question that some people don't ask is why did we change the rules in the first place? Feedback just like your post here resulted in a community and moderation survey. We asked our forum posters what concerns they had about the site. The biggest concern was the fear of being moderated and banned for little things. It was serious if our old timers were tip toeing around to post anything because they were worried that a post about this is stupid game or console when it's their opinion.

If we do end up with some more changes to the System Wars rules, the forum posters will be the first to know!
