Avatar Sync Issues Resolved - INSTRUCTION FOR RESYNC

Update! Is your user avatar not synced with your comments avatar? Does this get your goat? Well put your fears to rest and get ready to reclaim your bodacious bovidae.

To resync your avatar imply do the following:

1. - Go to your user profile.
2. - Click “Settings”.
3. - Scroll down to “Avatar and Backgrounds” and click on the square marked as “Avatar”.
4. - Upload a new image from your desktop (This is important, the image MUST BE A NEW IMAGE).
5. - Save these settings.
6. - Go BACK to your profile.
7. - Click on “Settings… again”.
8. - Scroll down to “Avatar and Backgrounds” and click on the square marked as “Avatar”.
9. - Select your desired image for your profile picture.

If you do the following correctly your avatar should correctly resync to your comments. If you have any issues with these steps or if these steps do not work for you please leave a comment below.

This is probably a seperate problem, but when I click on the square marked Avatar or any of the other image links in settings I get no response. It's been like that for me since the redesign.

Edit: Issue resolved by using Chrome browser to upload images.

@thisBlueDude: I'm having this issue in IE 11 on Windows 7.

It doesn't seem to be working for me. I think I have just lost the security privileges to update anything about my profile mirror over at LiveFyre through my GameSpot account.

UPDATE: It has been updated. There was a bit of a delay.

Not working here.. tried time and time again...

in the step #9 "Select your desired image for your profile picture.", I tried in two different ways, since it's not clear: uploading again from the desktop and selecting from previous uploads. neither way worked.

So, while I did not see this particular post, I have talked about this issue on this forum before, and I can say that today, out of the blue i decided to re-upload my avatar image and it works! I didn't do anything fancy, just re-uploaded all of the images and it works perfectly. Thanks!

And now it worked... weird lol

Ah, now a different issue. As you can see from my avatar, it's not displaying properly. How to "fix" this?

As the original image is so small (48x48 pixels), it's being upscaled to 80x80pixels for the avatar, causing odd-looking pixelation. The solution would be to upload a larger version of the image to GS, so that the site doesn't have to up-scale it for the avatar.

I'm having an issue.

I followed the steps up to step 5. I am unable to Save my settings.

Whenever I try to save a pop-up next to Someone comments on my review or blog appears saying "Please select an item from the list". When I click on the drop down menu nothing appears and I am unable to "select" anything.

@HowlPendragon: There's actually a bit of a bug going around right now with profile settings where no edits are able to be made. Good news however is that Lark has been notified of the problem so hopefully we will get a fix sometime soon.

I have this issue too. Cannot save due to that drop down list requirement and inability to select anything. I've read that Lark has been notified, but I still wanted to let you guys know.

@MichaeltheCM: We've fixed the settings page. Please try again and let me know if you still can't save!

I tried what DigitalDame suggested (twice uploading etc.) but it's not willing to work AT ALL. Cleared cookies, cache, logged out and then back in...nothing works really..On the older website (a year and a half back) I probably deactivated/reactivated the profile which worked for me. Don't even remember if deactivation/reactivation was ever available but I remember doing something like that and it did work.

Do I need to create a new profile?

Plz help.

EDIT: Turned off ad. remover too (for GS) just to make sure it wasn't the cause. Still nothing.
