About Me profile page has not worked for two whole days

The screenshot below of a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error is all I have received for the last two days...note the URL, and note text "The website has a programming error.":?

As far as I have been able to determine, that is the only Profile page I cannot get data from your servers.

I think IE 8.0 is telling it right on a programming error, as we do have quite a few glitches in the GS software.:P

Try looking at someone's About Me page by changing the URL to "www" in place of "uk" (not mine, mine is private)...you're on a set of UK servers, and this looks like a U.S. Gamespot server problem.

Pick one you know is in the U.S. if you can.

This is very off-topic..but I wanted to ask anyway. Windows asks me every day to update windows live messenger to the 2011 version, but I want to keep the old 2009 version I have now. (they removed the option to use a webcam in the new version for some odd reason and replaced it with video call, which is very slow and glitchy).

Anyway, is there anyway to stop windows from asking to update? The update icon is in the top right corner as you can see.

If this issue is occurring at some times but not others, that may be an important characteristic of the problem to confirm. I also noticed that several of you might be outside the US. Probably loading data for the HTTP 500 error, but your browser doesn't display it like IE 8.0 does.

In Windows, go "Start - Control Panel - Windows Update". Once you bring up the list of possible updates, click on the title of Live Messenger's update, and select to "hide the update".

Once you hide it, you can restore it later at any time.

The only drawback is if the new Live Messenger has any security patches within that your old one doesn't.

This problem is also happening to me.

Here are the facts we have so far:

1. It is not working for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Other browsers have yet to be tested.
2. Moderators or higher ranking users can see the About Me pages. Total Access Subscribers have yet to report any problem, if any.
3. (This is my own discovery.) The About Me pages can be pinged (using Windows command prompt) and returns a satisfactory result.

My impression thus far is that a glitch may have occurred with the permissions given to non-Total Access user accounts to view certain pages.

I was able to reproduce the problem by simply not being logged in. The server response is an HTTP 500 with no body. (That is, the content length is zero bytes.) A lot of browsers show such a response as a blank white page; others that display "friendly" error messages may do something more than that, but it's all made up by the browser. I suspect the issue will occur in all browsers. Apparently being logged in as a moderator masks this issue. I think this is the first issue I've seen where being a moderator was a diagnostic factor.

Someone needs to contact Jody and Dracula, so the programmers can get on this right away...that page does provide your complete stats, plus I'm thinking whatever was in the last software patch glitched this webpage.

Apparently being logged in as a moderator masks this issue. I think this is the first issue I've seen where being a moderator was a diagnostic factor.

I am in the US, and yes, it is still happening. I'd also like to add that I've noticed the Profile Views in the About Me sections of users have not been updating for anyone prior to this bug for at least a couple months, as well.

Safari > blank page, IE > error here.

Comments rarely update anymore...GS now counts them as Forum Posts.:lol:

I opened a thread about that a long time ago, but it wasn't acknowledged as a problem, so I just decided to forget about it.

It's an inherent problem...keep piling on new changes without enough development testing and a soak period in offline servers prior to loading them into online systems. The military does it better...if a new software change can be shown to be the cause of a glitch, then the regulations state you must fall back to the previously-approved version.:)

Looks like the webpage is working again...many thanks to whoever patched the coding.:)

It would have been nice if they had dug a little deeper in the coding and corrected the profile view count however.:)

why about me hasn't updated info for whole month it's stuck on same profile views and other stuff come on Gamespot I like that feature

I would be shocked if the statistics variables and formulas were ever fixed...they work for a while, a new patch gets dropped in, and they quit working again.:P
