I already have PC desktop with high end hardware , but when I travel to my family home in weekend I can't move my big PC , and I don't like to use gaming laptop because they are always overheated and always have problems (I mean only gaming laptops) and the laptops screens are too small , I need at least 24 inch , and when I see these from factor mini PC which are suppose to be steam box , I like them very much , and it can run games with good fps even in high setting .So , can anyone recommend me which one is better , I know there is many reviews , but no one make comparison between these two , and also need someone who try these machines ?

I am about to leap and get a Alienware Alpha my self as a complement to my desktop.. It is as small as a Wii.. Doesn't have heating problems of any kind from what I have read (you can overclock the video card even).. The biggest draw back outside of the unupgradable gpu (which really is expected at this time with how small it is) is the hard drive.. I would recommend when you get one you immediately get a new hard drive for it either a 500gb ssd (like $200) or a Seagate hybrid sshd 1tb (like $80), that is the biggest complaint I have seen that the hard drive it ships with is entirely too slow. Currently the Alienware Alpha I3 model is $450 on amazon.. That's a helluva deal, a full windows 8.1 computer at that size and performance with no heating problems (the early models from zotac and gigabyte small computers both have heating problems)..

Asus GR8 is entirely too expensive for me ever to recommend it to some one inless price is not a obstacle.. At $900 I would build a itx build that is alittle bit larger but more powerful.. That is why the Alienware Alpha is so desirable at $450 (or like $520 if you include a 1tb SSHD).. That is basically impossible to beat for a pc at that size (its in a 7 inch by 7 inch case only a few inches tall) with a windows 8 copy.. And it also includes a 360 controller, so tack on another $40 to $50 item you get in the package..

.. Because the price doesn't warrant the actual increase of gameplay if any on most of these games imo.. The I7 may play many of the newer games better, but this isn't your main pc, so why would you spent an extra $400 on a unnecessary upgrade when the I3 is almost half the price? And when you get into that price range imo, your getting to the point that you can build a more powerful machine your self for that price.. Treat this what it should be.. A very portable system that is compact, keeps cool, and performs well for the price.. If we compared this to any kind of desktop built for gaming, especially the I7 at it's price, its going get wrecked..

@Alessandro1001: Your not going to find one that Match s the size or performance of the alienware Alpha. The alpha is specficially designed for it's purpose with a custom video card hardwired to the motherboard. Any small form factor like that is just going to use an Intel's gpu on the cpu which is for light gaming at best.

Amazon has been selling the base I3 model for $450 for awhile now.. I bought that and immediately bought a $70 segate 1tb laptop SSHD and $25 4gb of ram.. I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the performance of the system thus far.. GTA 5 plays incredibly well in both 900p and 1080p (I have done a side by side comparison and I honestly do not notice a difference between the two resolutions with my tv upscaling the 900p, so I have been sticking with that for a few more fps).. And with FXAA on, and everything on high (except for advanced settings) the game has been getting 45 to 60fps with no stutters that I have noticed..

Dragon Age Inquisition I haven't tinkered as much but it is same story, with mainly everything on medium with a setting or two on high at 900p and 1080p I am getting frames 40 to 60fps in every area out there..

Furthermore they fixed one of the biggest problems with the system recently, the video drivers.. The Alienware Alpha can now use the most recent release (witcher 3 NVidia driver release) of NVidia drivers from the official site.. To me this thing is a helluva system to what your getting if your looking for a good entry level system, something portable, and/or a counterpart to your desktop...

Only thing else I would recommend you get for the system is a wireless mini keyboard.. They can be gotten for cheap on amazon and solves the problem of never needing to plug in a mouse and keyboard, and they are plug and play from the start..

Upgrading the system and reinstalling windows was extremely easy as well. Only requiring a 16gb flash drive and a longer narrow Philips screw driver to open the box up.. It took me 15 minutes tops in putting in the new hard drive and putting in the ram.. That was with me fumbling around in accidentally mounting the new hard drive in reverse, and struggling a little bit in plugging in the ram.
