Technically inferior but the great gameplay greatly compensates for this.

User Rating: 8.3 | Football Manager 2006 PC
Football Manager or Worldwide Soccer Manager as it is called in the states is a game where you take the role of a manager of a football club and must then succeed in the league and go to fame and fortune. The graphics of the game are functional but not in any way great and the sounds I usually just turn of as they are more anoying than anything else. So the technical aspect of the game only does what is necesary for the gameplay and nothing more. At the center of the game is its huge database with players from all over the world. They are rated in more than 30 different cathegories which all affect how they behave in the matches. It's your job to select the team and buy and sell new players as necesary. Furthermore it's your job to keep the players happy and performing well by managing the press, giving team talks during games, negotiating contracts and so on. This sounds pretty dull and as the graphics remind you more of a spreadsheet than a real game when described it sounds extremely dull. But when you get to play it you simply can't put it down again. You just have to play one more match or buy one more player. The only really bad thing about the game is that it is quite slow. Playing a round can on my computer often take more than a minute. This however is not enough to ruin the game. It is unputdownable.
