- The Bottom Line:
- "Old-school"
Football Manager 2006 is a fine "football manager" game, not many people know this, even though this XBOX 360 version has been on sale for around 2 years. I bought it for £4, (or $10) from Gamestation and so far I'm very impressed. Playing on your own provides you with hundreds of teams to manage and thousands of players to buy, (unfortunately, you can only choose teams from the top division or championship. But there are international teams to manage as well as club teams. If you're playing Football Manager for the first time you might find it a bit difficult, even if you're one of the top teams, (Man United or Real Madrid). A sort of steep learning curve can be overcome within a few hours, an advantage of Football Manager is the difficulty, its very challenging and after a victory its arguably more rewarding than that of actually playing yourself.
Graphics aren't really that important but the gameplay is well thought out and the overall value is possibly greater than your average football game. Online is a small feature that allows you to battle against over players with your own team from singleplayer mode. Not a classic, and quite old now Football Manager will still provide with a good football experience full of extras.
