Great game that didn't quite get the attention it needed.

User Rating: 8.5 | FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage PC
I have been a fan of the Flatout series since the very beginning, bought each one from launch and loved every single one of them. Flatout 2-UC offers the most new content I believe. At first glance it seems like its all the same, cars tracks and graphics are mostly the same however in the actual game its very different. The graphics have been vastly improved, I run on a geforce 8600 GTX 768mb, AMD phenom 9850 2.5ghz quad core processor with 2gb of ram. I run the game at mostly max settings with 1680x1050 resolution at a steady 30-50fps although at intense crashes my framerate can drop quite a bit. I also don't have AA and Anistrophic filtering enabled because it vastly drops my framerate. So that should give you an idea.

Now there are several new racers implemented into this game which some may find very distracting or annoying while others like me just love it. I think it adds much more intensity and action into the races to make it more challenging. Although it can be argued that the amount of racers can terribly mess with your driving in races and in derby's it seems somewhat crowded. The new carnage race mode is a great addition too. Most people just want to get on and smash other cars and thats exactly what it offers, although i wish there was more of a customization of the mode it still is enjoyable. Most of the tracks are the same with a few new additions. Also the environment is much more detailed. Another thing I noticed with this Flatout is the physics seems to be a little more realistic than the last game with less bugs. One problem i encountered was theres too much debris on some race courses which can severely hinder your driving. But it does at more intensity to the game, which is what I love.

I think the biggest disappointment is the online play. The game matching system is better in this than in flatout 2, however, it is totally dead. Occasionally several players will be on but not enough to sustain a long enough game time. On a side note this is also a games for windows so if you have an xbox live account and your a gamerscore hog, this offers some pretty fun achievements.

Overall I feel like this was move of an expansion than a complete game but its at a cheap price for the PC currently. I would recommend this to any person that loves destroying things or taking out some anger.

Chozzen.
