This rare and forgotten installment in the series is probably the best fighting game on the Sega Saturn.

User Rating: 9.5 | Final Fight Revenge SAT
My Score: 9.5

Final Fight Revenge takes place between Final Fight and Street Fighter Alpha 3, with returning characters from the Final Fight series, some even playable for the first time. Final Fight Revenge is, to me, the best fighting game on the Sega Saturn. Virtua Fighter 2 was fun, but nothing beats FFR.

Gameplay: 10

Most moves come from the Street Fighter Alpha series; at least for characters that have appeared in the Street Fighter Alpha series. Other characters like Poison and Damnd are actually playable for the first time. They were in the original Final Fight, but now you get the chance to play as them. This game seems to be based more towards the Street Fighter Alpha series, as it's not a side-scrolling beat 'em up, but a head-to-head fighting game. What sets it apart from other fighting games is the amazingly fun-to-execute special moves. When you fill up your special move meter, use a specific combo to finish your opponent off. Each special move is unique to each character, and each combo is different as well. This kind of reminds me of Street Fighter IV, except not as complex. Playable characters include: Cody, Damnd, Sodom, Andore, Haggar, Rolento, El Gado, Edi. E, Poison, and Guy.

Graphics: 10

The graphics are amazing for its time. Compared to Virtua Fighter, the backgrounds and characters look amazing on the Saturn. It gives you the feel of being in the arcade.

Story: 8.5

The story basically continues on to the after-math of Final Fight. Except, for some reason, the zombie boss is back. Thought he was dead? Think again. Each character has their own purpose in beating each other up. Overall, it's nicely put together and gives a realistic approach to what happens afterward.

A masterpiece in the Final Fight series, it's probably not worth the hundred dollars unless you're a hardcore Final Fight/fighting fan, but if you can find a good deal, snag it. FFR is a great arcade experience that will let you know Final Fight is completely capable of kicking @$$ on the Sega Saturn.
