We speak to director Nobuaki Komoto and Sage Sundi to get their thoughts on Final Fantasy XIV's launch, what's coming up on the horizon for PC users, and what PS3 users can expect.
whatever you do,it is too late.
just buy skyrim
I understand the frustration that others feel and i have felt especially. Being a lover of Final fantasy and hoping this game would hit big and hearing how its hit rock bottom was not a good feeling. Being a loyal lover of the franchise i keep hope that the PS3 version will change entirely. I hope they take some time for PS3 so they can truly save this sinking ship.
give them time? we did. that y they got like 5 years to make this game. they released an unfinished game, and dont give a crap about players. and now they asking for time. BS. i cant even return this crap game. the game now is less bug than before but the design of the game is still horrible. boring quests/battle, grind, and it doesnt feel like MMO at all. almost everyone go solo. just dont buy it or even think about it.
This game will grow with time like all other MMOs. Give it time guys. I understand why you are a bit disapoint trust me I spend $50 at the time on nit and It would not even run on my PC but now it does since they are have fixed many things. The game needs time but it will get there. Please SE put this on 360 as well.
These guys are idiots and incredibly lazy, good thing they were fired. But if you ask me this game is probably beyond saving and needs to be taken offline and completely re-done. That won't happen though so they'll just desperately try to fix it through patches. The only constant players for this game will be extremely stubborn people who wanted this game to be awesome and will refuse to admit that it's a steaming pile of crap. Don't expect the PS3 version to be much better, no matter how much you hope and pray, it's still the same game. It just seems to me that the Japanese can't make good mmorpgs. They make great normal video games though. And by the way, this game isn't coming to the 360, don't know why people keep saying it is.
history repeats itself... lets all hope 14 for the p3/360 can make that great comeback they once done with ff1 in 87' (for those of u that dont know the back story of final fantasy, it was squares last game made because all others before it flopped. so they released its final game and named it "final fantasy" because it was literally its final game made inhopes to save the company, which as we all know worked and because a huge hit franchise.) 14 has potential i must say, so i wont give up on it just yet, im a firm believer that 14 can recover to be a great game.
I would like to reevaluate the actions of SE for the last few years as a rough patch, if they can prove themselves to be better as they say they trying to be in the future.
all i know is Square has gone DOWN and ever sens it became SquareEnix.. it was much better.. way better storys and all of that when it was still SquareSoft!
They wont be able to recover from this if the PS3 and 360 reviews are as bad as they were for the PC ...
gamespot forgot to ask the most important question: where can a player get a refund?
Watching this video makes me sad, not that I wasted money on it. But the developers still have no clue what is wrong. How can you release a product like that and expect people to like it? It's an insult to gamers as is this interview.
they never ever listen to players before. now FFXIV going to trash; they just decide to fix problems. well that a waste of $40. fyi, they might finish fixing this game by the end of this year or next year.
I totally agree with the result - FFXIV was somehow worse that FFXIII. SE is destroying that franchise - I think it has a lot to do with them trying to "innovate" to the point of over innovation to the point that their games are becoming less entertaining by the title. And it isn't about "issues" - its about a terrible game concept in the first place. Updates won't fix this - only a total overhaul and dump the stupid rules.
i mean not many liked ffxi when it first came out, and look at it now, its been out for over what 8 years? i know this game will blow our brains out once all the bad stuff is taken care of. cause.. final fantasy is a survivor!!! wooot
whens tha ps3 release date!?!?!?!??!?!??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 was supposed to be march now when....
whats rift?
This game have Pvp???
You had your chance, now RIFT is out (head start)
This interview was in December, why did it take 2 months to post this? Komoto and Sundi aren't even involved in the game anymore. Making this entire interview moot. Final Fantasy XIV has gotten better, but after playing the Rift beta I can no longer defend this game. At the rate SE is going, in a year XIV may be where Rift was when the beta ended in terms of polish and content.
I don't understand why they didn't make this game playable with mouse and keyboard. I know you CAN play it with m&kb but it wasn't playable.
Squenix will save Final Fantasy?
Wow... I can't really imagine an American developer talking so honestly and openly about what's wrong with his current MMO and what was done wrong during development. I guess it's a cultural thing. Over here they would probably just keep their mouths shut as much as possible, and whatever information they do give would have a strong positive spin. Seems like American developers are really afraid of scaring people away from their product. Fact is that this game has a beautiful graphics engine, based on the screen shots and videos I've seen. Given more time for it to mature I might even try it.
stop making cross-console mmo's.... the games are suffering cuz devs are greedy... DCUO is a fine example of this as well... they try to make multiplatform releases, yet they end up makin less than mediocre games for both, all the while smearing the licence/intellectual property.... and pissing off fans and newcomers alike
@cliffyamo fyi during beta there were preemptive gold sellers i was getting messages from them. when the game bombed there was no need for the sellers to stay. when/if the game is fixed they will come back dont you worry about that gold sellers always find a way. you want mmos without gold sellers your best bet is always free-to-play mmos
Sorry I couldn't help but notice this guy looks like one of the ewoks from starwars lmao
I hope Square Enix don't will mess it up again...
kantot
This interview is old, as in, VERY OLD. Nobuaki Komoto isn't even director anymore.
I currently play this, and I am having a great time, despite the issues it has.. The game has improved a lot. I think getting through the rough patch and sticking with it is needed, the developers need to know that the game has a light worth working towards.. The game has a lot of potential long term to be something that other MMOs do not offer.
You would know that a game has a very, very bad start if the next promotional exercise for it has the officials talking mainly about patches and fixes.
I laugh at all of you who think it was suppose to beat Cataclysm... It wasnt. It's been debunked sooo many times that it wasn't due to Cataclysm but due to the fact they wanted the game out before SE's Fiscal Year ended for 2010. This game is much better now than it was at release even thou i still play it. It's gonna rock the world once they get all the problems out and launch for the PS3.
I have been playin this mmo since beta and its improving everytime, its a totally immersive, final fantasy world with amazing graphics and ground breaking new genre that pushes the boat and didnt deserve the critical scores it was given because of a few ui lag issues! Buy it, play it, you will love it, just dont believe all the BS that a few people have said after playing for half an hour and half of the things they have said are just not the truth at all! i have played wow,aoc and this is far better, hey no gold sellers whatsoever! and no trolls playing, a safe, secure, immersive world, you and your kids can play without getting wispered every five minutes by gold selling scumbags!
Thats what you getting when youre in hurry to release products... They were trying to catching up with WoW expansion , EXACTLY what Warhammer online did.. And look the results.... Both games = dead.
XIV was a complete failure on PC I doubt they can do anything to make it better
Those are the guys who screwed the game!! Fired them!!
This interview seems old.
I hope this is the last MMO for FF.....make it restricted as JRPG genre
PC is the beta for Ps3 ^_^
hope they can fix it, cause it seems to have a lot of potential
Just fix it as you can, so it be a good game.
Let's give it a new chance ;)
