I was very impressed with FFXIV:ARR. Very solid experience, huge improvement over the original.

ARR Has been a very pleasant surprise for me. I have played v1.0 and compared to that, the improvements have been massive. In FFXI (preToAU/abyssea/ect) and 1.0, it seemed leveling was a real grind. In ARR, the leveling system is really friendly for those with limited time. At times, the grinding might be a bit too generous, but overall it is about right in rewarding the active players. Dungeons were a huge surprise for me. In typical Final Fantasy fashion, each boss in the dungeons have their quirks, which really enriches the experience (and difficulty). The best improvement to doing dungeons is the duty finder. Instead of sitting in town and shouting for help, all I have to do is activate the duty finder and it will match me up with a balanced party. No shouting for help, unless you want to.
Overall, Final Fantasy XIV: ARR is a very solid experience, and worth a try if you are in the market for a MMORPG.
