Good game, but could be better.
Still FF14 even though it has the most satisfying game play of all of those FF games its not the FF game I was waiting. To be fair ill talk fist about the good stuff then go to what in my opinion make this game more of a pain than a fun adventure.
Good: The best looking mmorpg I have seen so far. Ps3 control feel just right, like it was meant to be. Tons of quest that have variety and are pretty much easy and fun to do and of course there is the traditional grinding ones but they require maximum of 6 kills to complete which make them fun to do instead of boring long grindings. FATES in my opinion are a great addition to the leveling process, cause you get to fight really cool monsters alongside others in the realm and its so much fun and rewarding, plus there is variety to them. Plenty of other quest to do in the Levemete so you don't run out of stuff to do to get to level 50, plus you have the hunting log that are very rewarding. Dungeons are fun and bosses are a good challenge.
Bad: Every time i try to enter a fate and there was more than 8 players, i wouldn't be able to even see the monster we where trying to kill and i have the best internet of my company and they are a big name here in nyc and it just me using it(it has password). I lost a lot of exp like this.
The story mode is not fully voiced, and you have to read a lot, sometimes i just skip it cause it was kind of boring. Its OK not to have side quest voiced, but man come on, the story quest should have being fully voiced.
Another downside of the story is that you need to find party in many occasions, so in other word to enjoy the story you depend on other gamers to advance, and if you are dps like me, you have to wait a long time to do so. Plus some gamers have no patient if you are new and want to enjoy the cinematic or if you make a mistake on the fight.
But what really hurt me more than anything I've said and why I'm not giving this game the 8.5 I was gonna give it, its that when you are done with the story and you want to get the best gear, you don't do it by going to epic new dungeons, instead you have to do the same 3 dungeons to get what its call Allagn Tomestones of Philosophy.
The dungeon that gives you the most Allagn Tomestones of Philosophy gives 100 when you complete it, so if the party fails you get nothing even if you got to the final boss, plus they might be new to the dungeon so that means you have to wait for everybody to watch cut scenes. This will take sometimes and hour or more to complete, plus the time you spend waiting for the party to assemble.
If you are lucky this process take at least 20 to 30 min if you get a party of experiences dudes that are looking to do it fast.
But here is the thing the cheapest gear you can get with Allagn Tomestones of Philosophy, cost 375 Allagn Tomestones of Philosophy. So that means you have to do this process 4 times, and there are just in the right side, where you have you accessories, at least 5 slot. That means you have to run this dungeons 20 to get all the accessories. The armor are more expensive, so you make the mathematics.
I trust me unless you never get tired of the same thing, doing something more that 20 that takes this long and is the same thing again and again can be boring and tiresome, and this is a game, is suppose to be fun and epic, not a repetitive hunt of crap.
I would rather have 4 or 5 hard dungeons where you have bosses that have a chance to drop you a nice piece of gear. Even though every other mmorpg have done this, is way better than what i just describe. Incredible there are people with almost full gear in my world so i guess there are people with that kind of time and patient.
Hope this review helps you have an understanding on what you may find in this game. Its not a bad game, but it can feel very repetitive.
(By the way talking about repetitive, if you try to level up another clase with the same character you have to do levemete quest and FATEs and that can take a loooong time and its not as fun that when you have tons of quest to level up so keep that in mind)
