This latest FF is perhaps the dullest "choose-your-own" adventure of the series - and I find myself asking, where is the gameplay? Sorry, but not controlling individual characters in battle, and having an auto-battle feature removes any of the charm from this game. Unlike BioWare games that have interesting, gripping, and logical stories, FFXIII is sadly J-fantasy to the extreme - ridiculous characters, horrible scripting, and so sadly predictable that anyone, anywhere who has ever (a) played any RPG, (b) read any fantasy novel, or (c) seen any kind of adventure movie could write this with their eyes closed.

The only thing FF had going for it beyond shiny graphics (which I will admit are as polished as ever) was its battles... which has now been neutered from the game.

Sad.
