...but I decided to move forward with my game, leave the Archylte Steppe, and move into Mah'Habara and it's optional area. I started the Steppe at 700.00 hours, and put 90.00 hours into it. Time to move on.

Mah'habara is considered a very hard area according to the guide and to other players...um, not really.

Aside from the average enemies, there are a few difficult ones. How'd I fair? First attempt kills of the area's 4 hardest:

    Juggernaut - 1,584,000 hp - 5 star.
Ferruginous Pudding & Rust Pudding - 5 star.
    Tyrant with a Centurion Blade - 792,000 hp & 202,400 hp ( respectively) - a bit hard but 5 star.
    Vetala - 480,249 hp - 5 star.

    Party consists of:

    LIGHT/VANILLE/ SAZH

    COM/RAV/COM
    RAV/RAV/RAV
    COM/RAV/SYN
    COM/SAB/RAV
    COM/SAB/SYN
    MED/MED/SEN

I start with Decimation and change as need be.

    Equipment:

Light: Omega Weapon *, Aurora Scarf *, Tetradic Tiara *, Collector Catalog *.
Vanille: Nirvana *, Aurora Scarf *, Tetradic Tiara *, Connoisseur Catalog *
Sazh: Total Eclipses *, Aurora Scarf*, Tetradic Tiara *, Survivalist Catalog (lv 1)

I could substitute the catalogs for other things, but I haven't yet.

These are the enemies that the guide says to absolutely walk away from. Uh huh...maybe for nubies, not the Master.

How did you get the Traps? Are they buyable at this point in the game? If so, did you buy three or buy one and use the dismantle trick?

No matter what the answer, you are remarkably dedicated.

Lol Des. I had enough gil when I got to the Steppe to buy 1 Trap. I got Fang's Gae Bolg to Kain's Lance and dismantled it. That gave me 3 Traps...and a few things that I could sell for a good amount of gil.

I spent a ton of time running around on a Chocobo getting gold nuggets (sell for 60,000 gil), and other trinkets, which I sold to buy Ultracompact Reactors (buy for 50,000gil). Other than killing everything in sight so that they were in my bestiary, I really didn't need the exp since I came into the Steppe with 999,999 cp, AND, all of my characters crystariums' were completed.

When I say complete I mean they're as finished as can be given I can only level them to level 8... but that includes their secondary roles too...all of them.

Yeah. When you grind a like a fiend, things become easy. Whoda thunk?

What weapons did you choose for T3?

I think you should use a different party and change your accessories a lot.

    I currently have Level 3 * weapons:

Light - Omega Weapon (from Blazefire Saber)
Vanille - Nirvana (from Belladonna Wand)
Sazh - Total Eclipses (from Deneb Duellers)
Snow - Save the Queen (from Wild Bear)
    Hope - Nue (from Hawkeye)
Fang - Kain's Lance (from Gae Bolg)

Of course I had to level up a few Gae Bolg's to Kain's Lance's to get the Traps necessary to create these level 3 weapons for everyone, but I had the time.

For weapons, my perfect game will have 1 of every:

    Base weapon
    Base Weapon *
    Level 2 *
    Level 3 *

I'm not sure what the weapon cap is, but hopefully you don't hit it.

    200 weapon cap
    300 accessory cap

I know because...well because I bought as many cheap weapons as I could to fill up the lust. When I couldn't buy anymore, I sold them back, being careful to leave one at the bottom of the list. The list grows as as you acquire items, but I want spacing between some of my stuff; thus the reasoning for my madness.

As long as you leave something at the bottom, the list won't shrink.

I did the same with accessories.

    What challenge is this?
  • Jul 30, 2012 3:57 pm GMT
Juggernauts are near impossible for the average party. You are stupidly overleveled. You are barely supposed to have base level T2 weapons at that point, if even that. Don't complain that they're easy >.>

Hey Zan...lol. I agree but as you know, I want to be further advanced than any other player I know.

I'll do a Juggernaut battle right now and tell you my time...give me a minute.

heh. Just pointin out a fact incase someone decided to roll into this topic and thought that's where they should be development wise. This is GameFAQs. Wouldn't be suprised if that happened LOL.

Zan...I agree with 100% buddy. No one grinds like me lol.

Sorry, I saved in the Earthworks area and had to run to where Juggernaut is; the Dusktide Grotto.

    Time to beat: 2:07
My time: 1:38 - 4 stars - not my best

No shrouds. No pre-empt strike. He's got a sweeping fire blast that kicks your a$$ and he also steam cleans that removes all ailments in one shot.

Well, they're near impossible unless you know exactly how to handle the fight. At which point they can be killed at sub-"normal" (no grinding) development levels, although you're likely to need a Phoenix Down or two.

Basically, equip fire resistance and physical damage resistance and use Snow (equip Paladin) leading Vanille and Sazh. Open with Premeditation so Sazh can Barfire the party and Vanille can stick a debuff. Any debuff. Then use Protection to stay alive while Sazh continues to buff until it uses Steam Clean. Get in a few rounds of Tri-disaster while it's doing nothing, and then repeat. You'll want Matador for sticking debuffs after Sazh applies all the buffs, Solidarity for staying alive while maintaining chain, and Aggression for once you stagger it. You need to stagger-cancel Steam Clean and launch it ASAP, and then keep it juggled.

The fight goes faster if you control Sazh (his Blitz is great against Juggernaut), but you run a much higher risk of dying to its double arm slam (which is the only dangerous attack after you get Barfire up). Snow with Mediguard/Steelguard will survive it no problem, but the others are likely to die if it hits them (thus the Phoenix Downs I mentioned).

edit: oh, at super low development, you can beat the fight by replacing Sazh with Hope and adding Protect to your defenses, but this slows you down a ton and requires much more precise timing.

With 3 tetradic tiara's at * equipped, Sazh's buffs only help in the process. Vanille's debuffs tack on really quick.

Tetradic Tiara doesn't last long enough to matter against Juggernaut at low development (plus, a low development game is highly unlikely to have a Tiara, let alone three), but I'm sure it's useful at higher levels.

Bituitus mission 7 drops tetradic tiara's so anyone who reaches chapter 11 should be able to beat him and get a few tiara's.

True, the tiara buffs don't hold long, but they help right off the bat. Sazh's buffs fast once hasted and can reinstate them rather quickly. Along with Vanilla's debuffs to Juggernaut, it's not as hard a fight as one would think.

Ah, but we're not talking about people who explore everything here. We're talking about people who ignore the missions or who maybe do one or two at most.

And farming Tiaras can be time consuming and tedious, even for those who can handle Bituitus with ease. It's only a 5% drop rate, after all.

Sazh can't replace the Tiara buffs at this stage, except Vigilance.

I don't think you're in a good position to evaluate the average player's experience. Juggernaut will kill an average party within 2-3 hits (unless they equip the right accessories--and no, the average player does not have Tiaras), and it can OHKO even a developed party with its double arm smash if they don't take measures against it.
