Missions 1-14 and 17 done. All primary roles maxed after grinding Maw Abyss for a while and had enough components to star everyone's weapon of choice (as well as rune bracelets and black belts for everyone).

Shall do a few chocobo runs to get me some items then continue missioning my way across pulse.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the missions are you planning to do while still in chapter 11?

As many as I can. Need to make some sprint shoes first.

Think I might have to complete Oerba first to open up stage 9 of the crystarium before doing some of the later ones! (Mission 55 for starters)

    Okay. Quick update.

3x Sprint shoes * (1 for each member)
    1x Auto-Bravery Talisman * (for COM)
    2x Auto-Faith Talisman * (for RAVs)
3x Black Belts * (1 for each member)
3x Rune Bracelets * (1 for each member)

Depending on the enemy will depend on the belt or bracelet.

Fully completed the 3 primary roles for each character up to stage 8.

Mission 16 - Sahagin (x2 + Ceratoraptor x 4) was a close one but managed it. That's Missions 1-18 done and dusted. On my way onward now with the story to Sulyya Springs for the next one. (Just done Hecatoncheir).

Just want to head off an apparent misconception. You say:

    DelDante posted...
    1x Auto-Bravery Talisman * (for COM)
    2x Auto-Faith Talisman * (for RAVs)

This implies that you think COM = Strength and RAV = Magic. That is false, and clinging to that misconception will hinder you going forward. COM = high damage, RAV = rapid chain building. COMs can deal physical damage through Attack and Blitz, and magical damage through Ruin and Ruinga. RAVs can build chain with magical spells like Fire/Fira/Firaga, and with physical strikes like Flamestrike and Sparkstrike.

Fang is my COM and she is using 90% of the time attack / Blitz so boosting her strength seems the way to go.

Fang should usually boost Strength, yes, although even she wants to boost Magic against certain physical-resistant enemies. Are you not ever using Lightning or Sazh as a COM? Lightning makes an amazing Magic-COM with Ruinga. What about Hope? Teaching him Ruin to open up his COM role is extremely cheap for the benefit.

At the moment I'm running Light as a Rav/Com, Hope as a Syn/Rav and Fang as a Com/Sab generally.

Obviously the team will change dependant on the enemy / mission but for usual enemies on the screen this suffices.

As I go on I'll definitely be looking at the other possibilities and utilising other roles and members.

Gave Light the Edge Carbine to up her magic stat. Noticing a difference. Fang now has the Taming Pole.

Did Mission 55 after unlocking Death (cheap I know, but I wanted the Growth Egg). Each guy now has 1 primary role maxed up to Stage 9. (Light-Rav, Fang-Com, Hope-Med, Van-Sab, Sazh-Syn, Snow-Sen)

Gonna go and head through some more Missions now methinks before attempting some cheap turtle farming (Yes, Death with Vanille).

Also I just found out the benefit of Ruinga with Light as a COM (In Oerba, the groups of seekers fell in seconds).

If you're going to do a significant amount of summon-based turtle farming, you should learn how to kill them with Sazh's Blitz instead of relying on Death. And yes, Ruinga pwns chapter 11. It's my top priority for Lightning in stage 8.

Well I've killed about 4 of them and got 1 ingot but for now I've moved on to chapter 12 so I can get to Eden. Gonna farm the toise there.

How does the Sazh Blitz one go? (cos at the moment his stomp kills me in 1 shot)

You still have to summon. This is an example of the strategy at a minimum development level:

You can go much faster than this or do it at Stage 8 with some modifications, but this is the rough idea.

Might give it a go. Having some success with Van at the moment though (just not the drops!)
