every time i get to one i say the same thing "great another one of these idiotic fights"

right now im trying to bahumat or whatever for fang, except he does idiotic amounts of damage even with 2 med, sen/med/med can survive the fight but that alone wont fill the gauge fast enough, sab/med/med fills its decently but you take stupid amounts of extra damage. theres pretty much no way to do anything b ut one of those 2 set ups unless you spent time grinding earlier to get your CP way higher than normal for that point in the game. his knock up lasts so long that by time the party recovers you have no time to do anything but pray the heals go off in time for the next round of attacks

another incredibly(even if petty) stupid thing is if you die and have to retry, the game by default doesn't even give you a sab/med/med set up so you need to go into the menu and make it, every. single. time.

edit: of course i say all this and the very next attempt i face roll the entire encounter, which just further prove how stupid these fights are because of how RNG it can be

I think the Doom timer was a simple, if not outright lazy, way of putting pressure on the player. The Gestalt gauge could've worked just like a stagger gauge, forcing the player to adapt their strategy to fill it with the opportunity to do so in that same battle without having to go through the "if at first you don't succeed, retry and retry again" flow so prevalent within the game.

This game really failed at putting pressure on the player by testing their paradigms, and resorted to quick deaths and quick retries to try to make up for that.

As Eidolon battles go, they're pretty simple. Tank and Heal, with some Ravager/Saboteur on the side when you can manage it. I was never too excited about them, save for the annoyance that is Alexander.

Hi, I'm Hope, and I like to dry hump my Sentinel.

i just did alexander and i thought he was the easiest one in the game so far, did it int eh first try with zero issues, but so far Fangs has been the hardest in the game by far for me

I remember Bahamut being a bit of a pain. Alexander was annoying mostly because Hope was dead before I could do much of anything on the first attempt.

Oooooh, just you wait for Hecaton~
Despite having grinded a bit to get some extra CP before continuing with the story and doing some missions, I still found that to be the toughest of the battles. Simply because it's Vanilla and Fang - only two members and neither of them that super great.
Don't get me wrong, Fang is awesome, but....

Vanille is way better than Fang is at this point in the game.

Having to redo a paradigm setup every time you retry is pretty frustrating. I didn't find the battles themselves to be poorly thought out.

I have consistently reliable strategies for every Eidolon that work at lower development than anyone who's not doing a challenge will have. In Bahamut's case, just make sure to use survival accessories--I put Auto-Protect and Auto-Shell on Fang and +HP accessories on the girls--keep Bahamut Slowed and Provoked, create a little distance between the characters, do your best to be in Mediguard when Bahamut is attacking, and spend as much time as possible with Lightning and Vanille as Ravagers.
