Check out a GameSpot exclusive E3 teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Bring FF XIII - 2 To PC! !!!
Ok teaser trailer... big deal... Where is Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Answer me that one... Yep... Dont worry i'll wait......
@mled. Last comment, go ahead run. Me defending him has NOTHING to do with assumptions or pre-judgments whatsoever. I've no clue where you thought you were going with that. Saying the word gay or calling something gay in today's vocabulary does not exactly mean the literal term gay It means lame, or stupid, etc. It has become a slang word. This ignorance you keep speaking of, is just proving your ignorance even further. Being gay and using the term gay in a slang manner are completely different. So again, where you're trying to go with this, I have no idea. I didn't judge or assume anything or anyone. People like you that feel the need to get the last word across, and then run from the situation, is very very childish and not worth my time. So be gone, I'm glad you won't be back.
@Joefatty2x4 - Well, this is the last comment I'm gonna do regarding this, since I don't want it to drag along. . You defend a guy that calls a game gay because he didn't like it and I'm the one doing assumptions and pre-judgments? . You believe being gay is a sin, so you are ignorant. And after such a display of ignorance I had to make clear that even though I wasn't gay I felt offended with such ignorance. . No one is gonna condemn me thank you very much. . I'm going to enjoy my nice day now.
FF7 should be rebooted with a different story, it would be boring to see the same story all over again.
@mled. I don't think my religion is the "only one" out there. It's obviously not. I just know that it's the only "true" one out there. As does everyone with their religion, otherwise it's pointless to believe if you don't believe that your religion is the real one. And I never assumed or even hinted at the thought that you might be gay Also, I wasn't the one that called the game gay I was simply defending the guy that did. It seems that your ignorance is the problem here. One more thing, I "get out" nearly every single day of my life. Your assumptions and pre-judgments will condemn you :) Have a nice day
@P-Ball3179 Man you just overdid your point, linearity is not absolute, a non linear game in the terms you establish there is only one: Life. Of course all games are linear to a degree, they are programed, writen scripted. But you can compare on the oposing ends of the scale something like Elder Scrolls and FFXIII. @Ashman555 Yes we think every other FF game was linear, but XIII was ridiculous. And you have no idea how much it would be an improvement if it had a Dirigible thing, the explore option is fundamental in RPGs, to me at least. People shouldn't love blindly something, i'm probably one of the biggests fans of FF, but i have my critical sense, will I buy the XIII-2? No, because is just a continuation from XIII, will I buy a XIV? 99% chance yes I will, but the series may loose me in the years to come, if the games continue to frustrate me. Yes the one who will loose is me, because i won't have my favorite franchise anymore and square don't need me to pay their bills. I read someone saying that is XBOX fault due to not being Blu-Ray and couldn't store the videos? WTH do I need long CG videos for? Look at the CGs from Mass Effect series, Perfect amount and length, in the right times. I want to PLAY, and not to be dragged around someone else's manga movie. I'm not saying you have to dislike FXIII, just don't trash us for doing it. Cheers.
@kangaox.... so... did it take you three days to make that comment? Or was it that you couldn't read my words because you work in a mill and eat in a soup kitchen? Anyways, I was easily a Final Fantasy fan when it came out in 1897. Maybe a kid then, but you know, it still doesn't take a genius to see Squares latest adventures have made the series a joke. Even you saying the game wasn't that bad is sorta out of the blue. Only the blind can see games with great graphics usually suck for the fact producers just worry about models and not combat or plot. Next, are you sure you aren't a bit on the mental side son? "Cannot a company try something new" Sure why not. That is what the world of gaming needs. I'm not saying toss out the system in XIII. What I'm saying is to add some movement controls. Make it more realstic rather than have a bunch of idiots run up to the enemy to smack its balls. Please for the love of god, it is 'sentence' spell it with me. S-E-N-T-E-N-C-E. Well 'son' I'm gonna go to work and pay for the bills. Don't have too much fun fantasizing about the boobs of an FFXIII chick.
@cjburnfist 1st off, dont call me 'son' mate! Ive prolly been playin Vid games since b4 you were an itch in ya old mans junk! Everything you said is a PRIME example of the stupidity and close mindedness of the modern day! Cannot a company try something differnt?? Or do you want the same ol lil characters again? moving around on square maps(that were as straight forward as 13s, you just were not closed in), no VA, an open world that is nothing but a barren lil lookin planet the size of a cricket ball! And that worked back in the 90s! Would it work today? I dont think so! So they opted to try something NEW. Zeus forbid they displease their 'loyal' subjects like yourself... All i said was (If you can read? They teach that at school these days?)that it wasnt a BAD game! Did I exclaime it was the greatest thing since sliced bread? did I rant and rave screaming ( Like you prolly do to the older games I can guess) "OMG! OMG THIS IS EPICS!!!" No, so stfu and go spit ya pious oldschool FF with the other kids at your school! Gods forbid there is a group out there that likes the old FFs and enjoyed something new in a series that has been around for the last 2 decades!!! Go read the last sentance in my last comment... and ease off the sugar!
This game is so cool!
Well, I will say I would kinda rather have Versus over a sequel to XIII, I did think it was good where it ended. I've been waiting for Versus for almost six years now. And Versus looks like something new and a step in a good direction. But I'll try this too. Just hope it doesn't bomb like X-2.
Watched it~ Waiting it~
Where the hell is FFvsXIII
@WintersMidnight Really? Your really going to say that I'm whats wrong with the Final Fantasy community simply because I would rather have Versus XIII which has been in development since 2006 instead of XIII-2 which probably didn't even begin development until March 2010 and Versus is a XIII game just like -2 is. Also I never said XII was the worst and VII was the best. I think XI is the best and XIV is the worst.
FFXIII was my first Final Fantasy game it not bad, but I'm done FF2 on SNES,and still playing FF7 and 9. On FF13 I like the character, the music, and the battle system very good. Oh the story uhhh.....I need look at it, but I can't wait for it.
@drasik Wow, we have the exact same opinion. I loved the FFs before XIII came out (though XII's story was a shockig dissapointment to me) but as soon as FFXIII came out, I never once got into the story, infact I thought it was the most monotone Final Fantasy I have ever played. Hopefully they change FFXIII-2 a bit to at least make it's more like the old games. And I agree that it's starting to become like Call of Duty, in which all the games are pretty much the exact same game, which begs the question, who is stupid enough to buy them all? Though FF could be accused of SOME of things, the changes they made for each sequel were always noticable and big enough to seperate each one from the other. Final Fantasy Type-0 (aka Agito) kinda looks like Kingdom Hearts battlewise though.
@drasik different view but well said ...
I'm real old school when it comes to RPG's and have played and completed every FF. My personal favourites are IV, VII and X so I've liked a diverse range of games in the series(although i really liked the grinding u could do in XII). While I was excited for XIII and loved the visuals it was a game I just wanted to end. It was horrible from start to finish I tried to get into it but it wasn't appealing to a hardcore RPG fan or even a Fan to the FF series. I was then kinda excited about Versus coming out but the sad truth is now that FF XIII has sold a lot, SquareEnix doesn't care about product. They would rather rush to get XIII-2 out then complete Versus. There are using the same battle engine in this sequel(come on the game looks the same). It seems like they have a winning formula so why change it, it is bringing alot of profit. They are not adding the care and approcah that they once took in these games. Dissidia is the same game the second time around too!! Looks like, Same franshise name, same game engines, minor improvements. FF series = COD series Nothing new or orginal it is just sad. Looks like Japanese gaming is evolving into American Capitalism.
FF XIII was only linear to fit in with the story. So now I am hoping that with XIII-2, we will be able to explore Pulse or even Cocoon and experience the lush world of FF XIII with out being rushed! :D
@Vrygar777 I have to bow to those 2, although technically Minecraft will have a end or means to win, therefore eventually placing it within the realms of being linear. Of course, that is if the developer does take that path as he has mentioned. Gmod, is probably the only one that will remain outside the linearer realm. Great developement and creative concepts, but to myself personally, I find it horribly boring. Kudos to those two though, I never really think about them to much.
@IceKunai04 dont get it wrong no one is against improving the game, for myself i do think it is a necessity, however, check what squareenix has been doing for some time now .. FFX was a good game without "a real exploration system" yet it was a nice game and totally worth it. then they came up with X-2 which sold a lot in Japan but that game was a real disaster!!! then 12 totally empty had zero ff magic, really felt just like any game nothing special at all, i finished the game without even realizing it !! so as many others i said to my self they would surely fix it on 13 ..... guess what, i played 5 hours only to figure out that it is causing me serious headache ! 13 sold a lot but believe me i was too disappointed that i am losing interest along with a lot of RPG gamers ... Crisis Core was the last thing had ff feeling to it, and i am not really looking for versus as squareenix is not handling its best title well
@P-Ball3179 Minecraft isn't linear in any way whatsoever. Does Gmod count?
@xkrossed Your right. A new FFT is exactly what we need, a game that actually requires a greater degree of thought than just "mash X(A), enemy die, good job!" But you know, knowing SE today, they'd probably make it a FFTA console game lol.
Considering the peak of the franchise was FF6 back on the SNES, it's fallen a long way to 13 - as many have said below, 10 was the last FF to have any lasting impression on the player. The music, the gameplay, the characters, the overarching plots, the worlds to explore - Square just seem to have forgotten what made their classics 'classic'. I hope we will see a great FF game again...maybe one day, when they return to their roots.
@IceKunai04 L.A. Noire took about 5 years and it's great game. StarCraft 2 took over 8 years (I think) and it was the best PC game in 2010. so why square took over 5 years and barely have any RPG element? so who cares if it was the fastest selling game in the series if it can't do much after the hype has gone? (quantity over quality never been a good thing)
Great another final fantasy for teenage girls.
This game looks like it will be so beautiful! I cannot wait to play another Final Fantasy installment. I think one way Square Enix could improve would be to stay true to who they are and have been, i.e. cut the online multiplayer games...
i actually enjoyed ff13 of course it wasnt perfect, like the battle system needs work and the whole if the leader you lose the battle was stupid.
Man, the battle system looks exactly the same as the first game! Why the hell are they making a sequal then?
@xkrossed: Me and you both, man!
Why would they make a sequel to one of the most hated games of all time? FFXIII was horrible. Square Enix hasn't put out a good game since the PS2 days. Maybe they should just make handeheld games. I am sure they can release Chrono Trigger 14 more times, or FFIV 22 more times somehow.
I'm still itching for another awesome FFT. and NOT on a DS please!
Someone please give me a game that is not linear........! You can't, because every game created to date is linear. Grant it, you can tell me that many games offer sandbox gameplay, but they are still linear. You start a game and you have to proceed with centain steps/objectives to reach the end. That in the truest sense, is linear. We can offer up the ability to travel any way and place in the game world, but you still come back to the same thing....linear. I am not agree with how linear FF13 was, I truly wish it was not, but I enjoyed it very much. Some haven't and I can relate to why. But if your biggest grip is that it is linear, well, you need to better understand that linear is all games no matter how you try to break it down. I do hope though, that they open this one up to be much more sandbox/old school RPG. @ashman555 - Well put!
FFXII just didn't have that sense of 'adventure' for me. I got bored playing it, and that's never happened to me before with a Final Fantasy game. Sorry Square. :(
Looks like I'm going to have to load up XIII and finish it before even considering this one. I simply lost interest in the game. I'll have to start over. Maybe it will be different with lower expectations. :P
Please square don't make me hate you again like you did with final fantasy x-2 :(
That's it?? Not much infos from the video... I hope they are less linear, because contrairly to what "ashman555" says, the other FF were NOT linear at all, you can go pretty much everywhere, and you often need some backtracking. FF13 was a 3 to 5 feet large corridor from the start to finish, with only one big spot that was totally open near the end (that's where you're gonna pass most of your time to have all the trophies). I'm hoping for a release faster for this game since it's the same graphic engine.
You all moan that ff13 is linear, and it is, but so was every other ff except they had a 'wider' corridor to walk through. FF7, 8 9 and 10 were all linear until you got the airship. That is what ff13 lacked.....an airship you could pilot..:P lol
Let's hope Square Enix doesn't disappoint this time.
You can blame the Fact that FF XIII was linear on the crap ass xbox 360. How many discs did it have? 3 or 4, right? You can't fit all that beautiful artwork and insanely awesome cut scenes into one disc unless you use Blue Ray. I say; If we want FF to return to glory, we start a petition to keep it off of inferior platforms and put it back as a PS exclusive.
People say Final Fantasy, fell off after 10, there's a simple explanation for that, after square merged with enix is when the games went to crap. I'm sure had they never merged FF11, wouldnt have been an MMO. FF10 really was the last great FF that had characters with lasting impressions and had some depth. 13 wasnt horrible but definitly not as great as it could have been. Waiting for versus 13 and kh3.
Man, you know what? Most my friends tell me I'm old school, even if i'm kinda old, but not relly. For me, the Final Fanatsy series started to decline with FFVIII, they started to make some "revolutionaryish" games and kinda overlooked the real fun. FFXIII was a really poor game, it redefined linearity. That is rarely an enjoyable trait in a RPG. Come on, I want sidequests, I want hidden bosses, I want the need to grind for xp, then again, i guess my kind of rpg is dead, because what i really want is another FFVI and another FFT. Oldschool is the best school.
FF13 was a decent game
@LJELLZ:...finally someone who understands...thank you.
Hopefully they don't make it like XIII not really having any towns etc was very bad idea, the lack of side quests and so on another example of were they went wrong, XIII wasn't on par with any of the classic greats of FF I just hope that XIII-2 is being made to correct the places they went wrong with their first instalment.
Some games are better off without sequels. FF13 and FF10 are two of those. 10 because everything ended quite nicely, aside for a vocal few shippers. 13 because that ended quite well on its own and was quite possibly the only more divisive Final Fantasy than 12.
@Bate_yasho Its a teaser...
Well, I am going to get flamed but whatever.. For one Final Fantasy XIII wasn't bad, It wasn't as good as some of the others but It was in my opinion much better then some of the overrated older games. And also, you don't know if XIII-2 will be bad, have you played it yet? No you've seen a twenty-seven second trailer. So, you really shouldn't judge it until you have played it. @rushisurf And I hate to tell you, that's pretty much the SAME thing you do in every final fantasy game.
Why FFXIII-2 FFXIII was bad enough, I used to love Final fantasy But I feel XIII let it down for me
@ThatManTrama So? its not like this game is coming out tomorrow.
