That got a bit emotional and got chills at the ending?! When Serah dies... It JUST happened so I dont know if it is a paradox from killing Caius or not but still. I loved the two main characters of this game for some reason, I dont think many people did.

I felt bad, yes. But also felt ripped. Having playing this game till 3-4am since embarking on Academia 500AF and getting that ending, while struggling to keep awake

You're not the only one. Amazing ending IMO. And the opinions of others haven't spoiled it for me in the slightest.

Yea I think Noel took top spot with my favorite character of any FF, which was Cecil, and Auron at number 2.

Her death isn't a paradox. It's a side effect of the visions she has during the whole game.
Every time Serah has a vision her lifespan is shortened.

Yea I know that, so youre saying no matter what I do, she dies? If thats true then I have a right to get chills from it. I just figured she wouldnt die if I picked "show mercy"

I like Serah and Noel, but I can't say I really "felt" much for the ending...

    Aside from anger.

    Mostly because;

    A) The entire time you're playing the game, EVERYTHING is leading up to finding Lightning and co. / happy ending, until in the last hour or so of gameplay they decide to establish that everyone is now stuck in 500AF and killing Caius is a no-no, so ONCE AGAIN (like XIII) the protagonists don't listen and go against their original plans somewhat out of the blue. Which means that pretty much everything you spent the past 60 hours+ doing was all for nothing.

    B) To Be Continued (aka BE SURE TO BUY MORE OF OUR CRAP! Cause' we KNOW you will! THNX!)

    C) The fact that in either XIII-3 or DLC, Serah will most likely just be brought back to life negating and real emotional "death" that may have occurred, and this is pretty obvious.

Yea Im sure she will be brought back but SE could pull a quick one if she was dead for good. But yea the To Be Continued I was like wtf....

I find it difficult to think like others do, I guess.

I hear this outrage, this criticism... one of the reviews says this may be the "worst ending ever" and I am just in utter shock.

I don't get why people would want to approach it with this critic's eye... why ruin it by worrying about spending money on a sequel two years in the future, or some DLC that may stiff you out of a day's lunch money in price? Why negate any emotion from it by saying, "eh, she'll come back anyway later on"?

I guess it's not a "choice"... some people are just more critical than others. But I didn't have an ounce of anger, personally.

It's actually pretty interesting, because when you look at the context, the story of XIII-2 and XIII are actually QUITE similar, and both end similarly as well.

    Protagonists want to change fate.

"Bad Guy" wants to open the door to the Invisible World by flooding the souls of the dead through the gate, and plans to achieve this by destroying Cocoon and bringing about "The End".

At the climax of the story, protagonist group changes their original plans and basically brings about the fall of Cocoon anyways.

It's like Toriyama and crew wanted a do-over, and rather than create a whole new plot, they just kind of changed a few details.
