Made the storyline more interesting, took out that stupid LP system, made the battle system better. Basically this game sucks out loud. All of the characters models suck, the storyline is not any good. It's not anything new, or anything original. I like FF VII through FF X-2, this game just does not live up to it's predecessors's success. The battle system in this game is supposed to be like FF XI (i guess), but it's messed up badly. For one thing it's almost impossible to flee from battles if you have to. The gambit system is obviously broken because during battle, if you have gambits on, you will never get healed when you are about to die! All of your party members will charge into battle regardless of how your party's vitals, or the monster('s) level is. Overall this is the worst FF game yet. Come on Square Enix, at least try on FF XIII.
