Yes, they've done plenty to fix those problems. They've tripled the exp you get, added in Field Manuals which assign a certain number of monsters to kill in the area, you kill them all and you get a big chunk of Exp and Gil, great for lvling in a party or solo. One of the main things that has actaully seemed to make lvling the game even a bit too easy now, is the addition of Level Sync. All the members of a party can sync to a lower players lvl, rewarding you with extra exp. Once you get to the aprroiate lvls, its almost impossible to enter Dunes or Qufim without getting invited to one of these parties.

Have they ever corrected the leveling problems with the game? I was never happy waiting for 2 hours to even get a group started and then an hour later it breaks up because we can't find a healer. Then I have to sit in town for another 2 hours and still not find a group. Can't level by yourself as you can't take on a rabbit 10 levels lower then you are.

Yes, people still play FFXI. More than you probably think. Why is this so surprising? People still play the original "Ultima Online" the first MMORPG ever released in the 90's.

I played FFXI for 5 years. If you get to the top in FFXI in terms of gear, the social element can keep you hooked well beyond what you intended. On another note, I saw my fair share of people go to WoW then come back. The usual argument was that WoW lacked FFXI's depth. FFXI can be compelling but on the downside it is just too much of a time pit if you want to achieve "very good" to elite status gearwise. In short, the odds are against you. There's just too many annoyances with the best gear in the game dropped from non-instanced areas which means botting, cheating, backstabbing, rivalries, etc., etc. -- the same crap you in the real world on a microcosm. That is, unlimited wants with limited resources.

That or since the playerbase is more mature, it's incredibly hard for someone relatively new to open older areas and/or get gear associated with older areas of the game since most people who want such gear already have it.

This is not a expansion of FFXI, but one of 3 short story lines for the game for $10 bucks each.
This Moogle story looks to be a comedic and just for fun.
They offer some nice exclusive gear and possible mini games.

I still play FFXI after 6 years and prefer it over games like WoW.

Horrendous perversions of phrases to fit the phrase "Kupo".
