Better than the previous FF games in most ways. Of course graphics and sound (voice) are going to improve. The gameplay is what counts. It is very good. You can switch out characters in combat, which makes sense if they are all in the same party. The combat system is much more straightforward with no time settings. No silly gems to find or cards to make from monsters. You are limited by the 'sphere grid' system of upgrades, though. If you kill enough monsters you can walk through the whole grid, but each character is effectively limited to its own upgrade path, although you can choose to go in a few different directions.
Very enjoyable. I like the atmosphere. Very positive.
