The Best RPG to Date!

User Rating: 9.7 | Final Fantasy X (Mega Hits!) PS2
There is so much good about this game, that its difficult to figure out where to start. In the game you play as Tidus, the star (blitzball) player of the Zanarkand Abes, who is playing in a game, when suddenly a mysterious creature called "Sin" attacks the city. You and an acquantance named Auron end up getting sucked up by Sin and land yourselves in an unfamiliar place. Many things are slowly revealed and you end up with some conpanions on a quest to destroy Sin once and for all.
The basic gameplay, like other Final Fantasies, consists of turn based combat, however it is greatly improved this time around. Unlike many of the previous games where you could plow through a lot of the battles just by pressing attack, you have to strategize for just about every battle in this game. For example, Tidus is very agile and can easily hit weak but quick foes that other characters would have trouble hitting. Wakka on the other hand is very accurate and can take down flying enemies quickly. Also, Wakka possesses Status attacks that can inflict a myriad of status effects on your opponents that when used correctly, can be very useful. Each of the 7 characters has specific strengths, so you'll want to switch bewteen them very often, which can be done easily with the press of a button.
Nobou also does an amazing job with the sound this time around and its arguably hit best work in a Final Fantasy. The voice acting and sound effects are also top notch.
The graphics were also pretty much the best on the ps2 when this game came out, and the CGI cutscenes were simply dazzling.
Overall, this is an amazing game that fans of the series and genre should absolutely own, and even people who don't usually like RPGs might want to give a shot.
