Action-based battle system is excellent and there's lots of choices about how to setup your party. Its a girly story tho.

I have nothing bad to say about the combat system. It relies on thought before battles and some quick action (to get combos) during battle. All in all, its an excellent JRPG battle system and frankly better in every way than the one in FFX. There's loads of options about how to build your characters and no one will have the same type of party by the end of the game.

Having said all of that, the story is often ironic in tone and my sense from other reader reviews here is that they didnt get that. The story we get is not to be taken seriously -- its basically a cartoon story with "sexy girl rock stars looking for adventure." Some will hate that, but personally I just ignored the storyline.

The game intentionally re-uses the locations from FFX and then shows how those once remote places have becomes tacky tourist hotspots. Its an amusing twist, and Square deserves some points that it can poke fun of its previous storyline. Folks dont take this game too seriously and enjoy the combat!
